It's up to you which choices you make when talking to Taffin but I personally prefer the ones which mean you don't have to pay him anything. As long as you get the information it doesn't matter what you do. When you do get the information, go visit Angus Santana on Anhur.

Comments : In the DOS version, you must apply the patch or not pay Taffin. If you pay and have not patched, the game will not let you proceed to Angus Santana.
