Level 0: Basic Flight Training is a simulator mission in Wing Commander Prophecy. It can be accessed through the "Run Simulator" option in the Rec Room as soon as the game is started.

Easter Egg
This mission includes an unusual Easter egg which may be what Blair is referring to in the description. If you approach the TCA Base within 6,500 meters then a Dralthi flown by "Hrai Hhallas" spawns. It ignores you and attempts to jump out. If you destroy the Dralthi then you are attacked by a second wave of four Vaktoth also flown by "Hrai Hhallas" spawn. This Easter Egg was reported in the March 1998 issue of PC Soluces (issue 15) and the June 1998 issue of Micro Mania (issue 41), though these incorrectly claim you must destroy the base rather than just approach it. This is referred to as the Cleaning Crew Easter Egg in the game's files.

Notes
- The starting point, NAV 1 and NAV 2 are all very close
- The flight instructor describes 'NAV buoys' but he is referring to the HUD display; this is confusing since jump buoys then appear as the drone targets.
- You can destroy the second jump buoy in any way you want but you must follow the instructions about full guns before the mission will continue.
- The type and pilot of the Hrai Hhallas starbase are reversed so it reads "Hrai Hhallas: Starbase" when targetted.
- Ending: player lands on the TCS Midway.

The white arrow on your forward view is pointing to the first navigation buoy. Turn your ship to face this NAV point. Once it is in front of you, the NAV point should appear as a white cross. Fly to within 100 klicks of the buoy.

The selected target will appear, along with sensor data, such as alignment, range, shield strength and armor level. 05100005.wav The cursor in the center of your forward view will point you towards the target. Turn your ship to face the target and increase your speed to close in. Get within 20 klicks of the target.

Basic Training is a straightforward exercise meant to familiarize pilots with the basics of navigation and combat technology. Follow your instructor's directions from each NAV buoy, engaging the relatively tame enemy ships along the way. Get used to using the small green diamond that appears near a target ship (the ITTS reticle). By firing at the green diamond, instead of directly at the enemy ship you have targeted, you can effectively lead the enemy vessel.

The Level 0 training mission is a straightforward exercise meant to familiarize pilots with the most basic of the ship’s navigation and combat technology. Follow your instructor’s direction from each NAV buoy, engaging the relatively tame enemy ships along the way. Get used to using the small green diamond that appears near a Locked Target. By angling your shots towards the green diamond, instead of directly at an enemy ship, you can effectively lead the enemy vessel.
Using your afterburners to make a quick exit can help to diffuse the most dangerous situations.
