Transcript

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Yeah, I see ya. Maniac! Alright, we're heaving to just outside the Axius system because I don't want to risk this entire ship. Makes me nervous when it looks like no one's home. Lieutenant, what does Wilford's data tell us?

1ST LIEUTENANT VELINA SOSA: Planets are uninhabitable: so forces would be space-based. But there's a lot of comets, space debris floating through the system, so they would still have to be pretty mobile.

LIEUTENANT COLONEL GASH DEKKER: With these new fighters, can't you just go in guns blazing and take 'em by surprise?

COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: And with no idea of what's on the other side, that's typical marine tactics.

COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: For once I agree with Hawk. We have to recon first -- see what they've got.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Right, right. Now, that's why I want a pair of wingmen to escort me to the jump point leading into the system. They'll peel off and I'll go in solo. If I'm alone in one of their unmarked ships, I shouldn't attract too much attention while I snoop around.

COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: Do you know what wartime protocol is for captured spies, Colonel?

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Well, you only live once, right? Alright, let's go.

LIEUTENANT COLONEL GASH DEKKER: Typical marine behavior saved your flyboy butt many times.

COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: Outside!

briefing m2: pilots/dekker/sosa - chart room -M2 Blair We're heaving to just outside the Axius system because I don't want to risk this entire ship. Makes me nervous when it looks like no one's home. Lieutenant, what's Wilford's data tell us?

sosa The planets are uninhabitable. Forces would be space-based, sir. But a lot of comets and space debris move through the system, so even they would have to stay very mobile.

Dekker With these new fighters, can't you just go in guns blazing and take 'em by surprise?

hawk With no idea at all what's on the other end? That's typical Marine tactics.

panther For once I agree with Hawk. I think we have to recon first. See what they've got.

blair Right. That's why I want a pair of wingmen ... (pointing at map) ... to escort me to the jump point leading into the system. They'll peel off and I'll go in solo...

the map is ominously empty beyond the jump point...

Blair If I'm alone in one of their unmarked ships, I won't attract much attention while I snoop around. We found some uniforms with these fighters: I'll wear one, in case I get an opportunity to land and take a closer look...

panther (beat) You know what wartime protocol is when it comes to captured spies, Colonel...

blair looks at panther...

Blair (gallows humor) You only live once, right? Let's go.

WINGMAN SELECTION NOTE: Regardless of who he picks, at least one of Blair's wingmen must be invulnerable.

LOADOUT NOTE: Only Black Lance ships will be available for Blair.
