HACKER: What the hell? My radar's just taken a dive.

BOB-O-MATTE: Same here! Shields are down too!

HACKER: Wing three, report!

MOOSE: All C&C systems have crashed!

BOB-O-MATTE: Whoa! Where'd those bogies come from?

HACKER: Look sharp! Their radar sure ain't jammed!

MOOSE: I've locked on to one of them... Firing! Damn! Hacker, break left, it's veered toward you! Oh, my God! They've killed our weapon's guidance system too!

1ST LIEUTENANT VELINA SOSA: Sir, while you were flying, a high-priority message came in from the Admiral.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Let's take a look.

1ST LIEUTENANT VELINA SOSA: Sir.

ADMIRAL DANIEL WILFORD: Colonel, I've been getting strange, troubling reports out of the Peleus system. Now, we've been losing ships, yet there seems to be no enemy presence. I'm ordering Intrepid to look into this. Peleus is absolutely vital to our efforts: it's a major source of fuel as well as a strategic location. Lose Peleus and our cause cannot prevail.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: You heard the man.

HELMSPERSON: Yes, I did, sir. Inputting coordinates now.

-

1ST LIEUTENANT VELINA SOSA: Uh-oh! That's strange.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: What's our status, Lieutenant?

1ST LIEUTENANT VELINA SOSA: Shields down... radar's down... sensors down... guidance systems down... Emergency systems!

MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: We're sitting ducks!

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Reverse course!

HELMSPERSON: Right away, sir!

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Maybe we can pull out of range of whatever's causing this.

MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Oh, this is great. Now, we gotta fly blind! Groping around like some pathetic sandworm on Isis VII!

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: You still have eyes, you know. Welcome to Peleus.

MAJOR TODD "MANIAC" MARSHALL: Can I get my money back for this tour?

midgame: SPACE - peleus system 190a-j1ÿÿ A squadron of Border Worlds fighters cruises through space...

midgame: inside a border worlds fighter cockpit -j1 without warning, the "dashboard" goes dead...

The PILOT looks on, helpless...

pilot #1 What the hell?!... My radar's just taken a dive.

another PILOT in the squadron appears on his comm screen in a flaky transmission:

pilot #2 (comm screen) Same here! Shields are also down.

frantic, pilot #1 tries to punch up any kind of display.

pilot #3 (v.o.) All C-and-C systems have crashed! ÿÿ

midgame: space -j1 A pair of Confed fighters drops in behind the Border Worlds squadron and OPENS FIRE...

MIDGAME: INSIDE PILOT #1'S COCKPIT 193A-J1ÿÿ PILOT #1 REACTS.

PILOT #3 (V.O.) (in panic) Where'd those bogies come from!?

pilot #1 How the hell do I know!!

midgame: space -j1ÿÿ The Border Worlds fighters try to defend themselves from this unexpected attack. But the Confed ships have the upper hand since they had the element of surprise on their side. Two of the Border Worlders are destroyed immediately.

pilot #1 (v.o.) Their radar sure ain't jammed!

Pilot #2 loops around and FIRES an ImRec missile at one of the attackers. The missile veers wildly off course and destroys Pilot #3's ship.

pilot #2 (v.o.) Oh my god! They've killed our guidance systems, too!

The Confed fighters now make quick business of dispatching the remainder of the Border Worlds squadron, leaving nothing but wreckage in their wake. ÿÿ
