Transcript

SEETHER: Enter. Colonel.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Doing a little spying of your own?

SEETHER: Captain Eisen, guilty of so many things, was guilty of data theft as well. My efforts at damage control are feeble, I assure you. It's difficult to ascertain the amount of damage his misguided deeds may have caused.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: However misguided he may have been, I'm sure Captain Eisen had reasons for his actions.

SEETHER: Eisen was weak. In the long run, the Confederation was much better off without him.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: I doubt that. You know... we've seen each other before. You remember?

SEETHER: Of course, Colonel.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: I can't say I was particularly impressed with your behavior.

SEETHER: Ah, that planet in Nephele? Riffraff. Being on the edge of the Border Worlds, I had to deal with the problem as they understood. That one? I should have finished him off.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: And who are you to make that call?

SEETHER: Be honest, Colonel. We make that call all the time. Every time we climb in the cockpit. Every creature in the galaxy is constantly being weighed and measured in one or another's eyes. The strong, the successful, find themselves always worthy. But, we get tested every day 'til we die. All of us.

eisen's cabin - seether (optional) -f2 NOTE: Scene available only IF Blair was "pissed off" in Scene -F2.

as eisen often was, seether's at work on the data terminal. He looks up at blair, completely unperturbed.

seether Colonel.

blair Doing some spying of your own?

Seether's calm is nerve wracking. he turns to Blair and explains as if he were talking to a small child:

seether Captain Eisen, guilty of so many things, was guilty of data theft as well. My efforts at damage control are feeble, I assure you. It's difficult to ascertain the amount of damage his misguided deeds may have caused.

blair Misguided as he might have been, Captain Eisen must have had some reasons for his actions.

There's a picture on the desk: eisen's grandkids. seether picks it up, glances at it with cold, soulless eyes.

seether Eisen was weak. In the long run, the Confederation is better off without him.

blair I doubt that. (beat) We've seen each other before. You remember?

seether (thin smile) Of course, Colonel.

blair I wasn't particularly impressed with your behavior.

seether That planet in Nephele? Riff-raff, all of them. Being on the edge of the Border Worlds, I had to deal with a problem in a language they understood. That one...? I should have finished him off. They scarcely deserve to live...

blair Who are you to make that call?

seether Be honest, Colonel. We make that call all the time. Every time we climb in the cockpit. Every creature in the galaxy is constantly being weighed and measured, in one or another's eyes. (beat) The strong, the successful, find themselves always worthy. But we get tested every day til we die. All of us.
