Transcript

SEETHER: Oh, you better speak up. This is your last chance.

LIEUTENANT KYLE LEE: Look, I don't know anything. Really.

SEETHER: I wanna know the position of the Intrepid

LIEUTENANT KYLE LEE: Position? I don't deal with coordinates, man. I follow beacons. I don't know anything about coordinates. I don't know anything. What are you..

SEETHER: You're a pathetic liar!

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: You son of a bitch!

SEETHER: You have a complaint, Colonel?

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: That man was a prisoner of war... not target practice! I haven't seen anything like that since...

SEETHER: Since the Kilrathi? In case you haven't noticed, Colonel, we're fighting a war. The politicians may not have signed all the papers yet, but out there it's my side and their side. The Kilrathi didn't let cheap sentimentality get in the way of the war they fought. Maybe we should learn something from them. I may have overreacted just a little bit, but you can't unring the bell.

COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Captain Paulsen will hear about this.

SEETHER: I wouldn't bother, Colonel. Besides: who do you think runs this ship? Get him out of my sight.

midgame: flight deck -f3 as blair steps away from his fighter, he notices activity behind a stack of barrels.

he moves closer and sees seether lording it over the BORDER WORLDS PILOT he collected.

seether (contemptuous) You're a pathetic liar.

with that, seether puts a gun to the pilot's temple and PULLS THE TRIGGER. the results are swift and horrible.

flight deck - seether -f3 blair slams seether against a bulkhead.

blair You son of a bitch!

seether bristles. he seizes blair's wrist and looks like he might break it. they go eyeball-to-eyeball.

seether You've got a complaint, Colonel?

Blair's veins bulge across his forehead.

blair That man was a prisoner! Not target practice! I haven't seen anything like that since --

seether laughs cruelly.

seether The Kilrathi? In case you haven't noticed, Colonel ... we're fighting a war. The politicians may not have signed all the papers yet -- but out there, it's my side and their side. The enemy. The Kilrathi didn't let cheap sentimentality get in the way of the war they fought. Maybe we should learn something from them.

the two men glare at each other... seether finally looks at the dead body at their feet...

seether (casually) I may have overreacted... But you can't unring the bell.

blair Captain Paulsen will hear of this.

seether (shrugs) I wouldn't bother, Colonel. (beat) Besides, who do you think actually runs this ship?

he laughs softly... threateningly... as he moves away...
