    Abalative Armour

Well, that's because Star Trek shields are so damn weak that just about anything would be an improvement. ;)

    Abalative Armour

The way that the batmobile armor is designed is stupid - it inhibits the other defensive capabilities of the ship that it's mounted on in favor of the "armor" - is stupid. Shields for armor is an incredibly poor trade.

    Abalative Armour

It will actually *degrade* their defensive abilities. The batmobile armor (which Graham Kennedy *incorrectly* equates with Defiant-style Ablative Armor) not only is of inferior density to Confed armor, it inhibits shield generation. It's a bad design and a stupid concept, and only Star...

    Ooh, your carrier (singular). ;)

    One more post to kill...

Heh. Now do a hundred thousand push-ups for being lazy, mister. And welcome to this man's space force. Here's your Arrow.

Who here is a Kilrathi sympathizer?

"I've never trusted Kilrathi, and I never will. I'll never forgive them for the death of my boy."

Just got WC privateer and have no idea what to do

Re: Re: Re: Re: Just got WC privateer and have no idea what to do The only plot missions that I have problems with are the Tayla and Lynch series early in the plot. Once those are done (and I do *so* enjoy giving Miggs an ImRec enema), the rest of the plot is just fine with me.

Just got WC privateer and have no idea what to do

The most important thing in Privateer, and tattoo this on the insides of your eyelids, is: "A fully loaded Tarsus is better than a bare bones Centurion." In fact, a fully-loaded Tarsus is better than anything but a fully-loaded Centurion. Forget the tractor beam until you've got a ship...

Similarities between WC and Space Above and Beyond?

I thought Borst & DePalma were pretty good writers in WC3 and 4, though they had to keep overusing "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance" in WC4 until I was bloody sick of hearing it. Other than that...

Wich WC have the worst fighters?

Heh. The previous post should tell you how much I think the Hellcat V 5uxx0rz, if I'd take the Epee before the Hellcat. Bombers: Devastator is my favorite. Bar none. That huge gun under the nose cements it. Shrike: While the gun power leaves a lot to be desired, it's a fairly useful...

Wich WC have the worst fighters?

WC3 is an odd game... on the one hand, it has my least favorite fighter of all time (I would SERIOUSLY take an Epee before a Hellcat V). On the other hand, it also has the best matched pair of fighters in the history of S-F spacesims (a T-Bolt vs. Vaktoth duel on the higher difficulty settings...

    Carriers

The phrase you're looking for is "reactor vessel." Forgive me for asking, but don't you guys still have your Super Etendards and F-8E(FN)s? If so, can't you fly those off the CdeG? And I'd heard that the C de G is giving the FN no end of difficulty because of inadequate power, needing...

    Carriers

Have you ever heard of the Law of Diminishing Returns? Bigger is only better up to a certain point. IMO, that point is reached with the Vesuvius-class heavy carrier - the larger Midway-class CVs are *much* less effective per unit mass than the Vesuvii. Fighters are *astonishingly* deadly...

    Carriers

I have a copy of the naval aviation manual from USS Midway CV 41. According to that manual, the "V" in CV stands for "aviation."

    Carriers

A light carrier is simply a fleet carrier built on a smaller hull, carrying a smaller air wing than a standard fleet carrier. One of the projected designs for CVX, before it was redefined as CVN(X) was a conventionally powered, smaller aircraft carrier with an air wing of 30-50 aircraft as...
