He is a strong proponent of non-linear open-ended gameplay. Titles such as Deus Ex and the upcoming Thief sequel can be played in many different styles. While both are action games on the surface, Deus Ex can be completed without killing anyone, and a player can complete Thief without ever even being seen. Mr. Spector also discussed some of his time at Origin and the obstacles he has overcome. His first game with OSI had a budget of just $250,000.
