Two New Models For The Price Of One Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Update ID

Kevin Caccamo has created two new lightweight models for aspiring modders out there. He's rebuilt the Scimitar from Super Wing Commander and the Strakha from Wing Commander 2 in relatively low-poly packages. Both craft employ a variety of texture and mapping tricks to enhance their looks while retaining their compact nature. Wingnuts who haven't yet played SWC might recognize the Confed model from its tweak and reuse as the A-20 Banshee from Armada. Grab both ships in this pack here (2.3 meg zip).
Yes, this is a dual model release. Yare free to use them in your fan projects. Textures, normal maps, height maps, and AO maps for both models are included in the package. I also updated the Hornet package.

Electronic Arts Expanding New Game Promotion Plan Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Update ID

In addition to pushing live-action cinematics in its key classic franchises, Electronic Arts has announced that it has commissioned an animated film to coincide with the launch of its upcoming sci-fi/horror shooter Dead Space. This is a big step up in terms of cross-promotion of a new franchise. Starz Media will be creating the prequel, which takes place between the upcoming game and prequel comic book series that was also announced earlier this year. Both the television broadcast of the film and XBox/PS3 release of the game will occur simultaneously on October 31, 2008.

"Due to the richness and complexity of stories that have evolved for video games, they have become a type of entertainment that can span generations and provide fantastic inspiration for other forms of media; especially in the realm of animated features," Film Roman President and COO Scott Greenberg said. "We're particularly thrilled to be starting off with Dead Space."

"We are really excited to be working with Film Roman to create an animated feature that will tell the portion of the Dead Space saga between the comic and game," said Glen Schofield, Executive Producer for Dead Space. "With the video game, comic book and now animated movie, Dead Space has become a true multimedia brand. Each of these elements delivers the story to new audiences and tells it from different aspects and perspectives."
