What WC4 needed

Yeolp!

I didn't like Rachel that much, either. She just wasn't Blair's "type," you know? I thought Blair liked the more, dunno, upstanding women? Rachel was a little too much of a grease monkey.

Now Flint ruled

flint wasn't bad. I liked her better than rachel. Panther, sosa... mmmmm. But I think Angel is probably the one I liked best if you want to go by personality/ geting to know her, ommiting looks, followd by Sparks. Hey, Im kinda stuck on wc2, but the other games are great too

quick thought about rachel and casey did anyone else notice the looks people even hawk gave her, i think she might have been fixing more than just the pilots fighters(it fits seeing as how the woman who plays her acted in adult movies) as for flint and panther sure they were hot but a little too goodie two shoes at times, for my pick it would be sosa or stilleto, and as for stilletos acting i dont think it was that bad seeing as how she was trying to convey a emotinally ice cold character, sorta like caseys father The ICE MAN, hmmmm.... didnt freud say something about attractions like that between people

It never ceases to amaze me how young men assume that all women in a game want to have sex with their character. <G>

i bet origin made blair single because they wanted to kill him off later, i'm sure they'll let maniac hang around long enough to get a girl he likes before he dies because his luck runs out 'cause he spent his entire "life luck" quota on getting the girl, i don't know then they'll kill casey though...

If you put it that way, his flying skills are PHE-nom-IN-al!!

What I meant before was, I disliked that character. I didn't like playing as him.

Boo Casey

Well duh!
Maniac didn't like him either!
Probably a connection.
:p

Seriously, WCP was a little short on the character development, IMHO, except perhaps with Zero and Iceman. Probably learned as much or more about Iceman as you did about anyone else in the game (and he wasn't even in it).
It would almost be better to go back to the cartoony sequences that you had in WC2. At least in those ones, you could always count on some plot development between each mission. The plot items between each mission are a large part of what sets WC apart from the competition, and it got a little annoying when you'd go for a couple of missions without having anything happen back home.

I totally agree. The character development was weak; everything happened in the bar, Maestro was gay and Stiletto couldn't act. The sequences that happen "back home," were pretty lame in Prohpecy....

Maestro wasn't gay. Although I agree he seemed gay.:D

Just check out the opening conversation with Stiletto (where she finds the bottle he had stolen after an adventure with some ambassador's saughter.)

I had always thought of a parallel between Blair & Maniac and Casey & Maestro...Except that Maestro seemed to get lucky with the women, and also sucked as a pilot (I don't know whether it is on purpose or not, but his kill count seems to be very very low, and on some occasions, when playing the game, the new squadron's kill count starts to exceed his)

WCP Maniac I found was actually tolerable. I'm guessing from the fact that he is at last on a ship where he is one of the most senior ranked pilots and at last commands some respect. I also reckon that he was feeling a little humbled that still after all this time he is a major.

The character development was so weak it took me a couple of goes to actually figure out who Sypder was...I had to go on voice and finally figure out that it was Hawks friend. I'd also like to know who Amazon was, since she also joins the group onto the Cerebus. I'm guessing she was Lt. Col. Gloria Ortiz, who also wrote some of the Simulations.

Yeah, I didn't care enough to remember who certain characters were either. I thought Dallas was a pretty deep character... but he got whacked too early for his character to finally grow and change. BAD MOVE

As for my favorite, the Maniac, I always found him tolerable. Maybe with WC3 being the exception. He was a little pissy in that one. Understandable, though, because what I hear, he was the CAG until Blair stepped onboard. I'm sure that distilled Maniac's more "playful," competitive attitude towards Blair.

Maniac was at his prime in WC4, though. He had the funniest lines!

However, the Maniac depicted in WC2: SO is still a mystery to me. I mean... the earring  and his apparent heroine habit....

I will go for the helm officer on the Intrepid. She was hot!! She loves to hold onto that joystick and flying something that big and powerful.

Y IS THERE BACON IN THE SOAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

She's Major Amber Elbereth, sixth man out in Secret Ops.

Well he flies with you a lot, and I assume you get a lot of kills on those missions so his kill pool is maybe shallow. :) The guide (using a scale of 1-5, with 1 being low and 5 being high) lists him as having a 3 for flying and a 4 for gunnery.

The bio in the guide mentions he had very impressive flight scores in the Academy.

I doubt most folk would like a regular wingman with 5's, so while his bio is impressive, his AI is less so, mainly to make the game more enjoyable. I was surprised to find his verbosity was only 4. He never seemed to shut up when I flew with him.

And, according to the Prophecy Hint Book, she got her nickname for a several-month hiking expedition she took along the Amazon river in Brazil. The most valuable lesson she took away from that? Paraphrasing (since I don't remember the exact wording): "In life, there are Predators and Prey. Human beings are Predators."

Gee, Tolwyn and Thrakhath would have loved this gal...

Respectfully,

Brian P.

Amazon - saw the demo before I got the game, and iirc, she's in all of the missions in the demo. From that I figured she'd have some important role in the game.
Boy was I disappointed.
Still, the fact that she's also in SOP may mean that they initially had some plans for her, and decided to keep her around in the follow-up just because they needed an extra pilot and she had prior name recognition.

Maestro - iirc, this guys starts missing missions toward the end of the game, as well. There's an official reason that he and Maniac aren't flying in the last mission (besides the fact that Blair needs wingmen), although I can't remember why. That might partially explain his low kill count (i.e. missions where you get kills, but he doesn't cause he never leaves). That would only partially explain it, though.

Maniac - I seem to remember him having some female fans at a couple of points on board the Midway, although that still doesn't stop him from moping in the bar when Rachel showers Casey with attention.

I thought you flew with Zero and Excel in the demo...?

How many fighters are in the flight? If there's four, then you'd have room for all three.
The only thing I remember is that Amazon was present, and that the missions seemed awfully similar to the blown convoy escort mission in WCP (the one that picks up the TCS Redeemer - every fighter pilot's best friend).
