Bengal Engines All Revved Up
Howard Day continues to up the detail on his fearsome Bengal class carrier. This time the engines have been significantly revised. The third image is particularly neat. It mirrors the WC1 ending perspective. Different sources show different Bengal engine configurations, but the ending of the first game is the actual inspiration for Howard's engines here.

Okay, so I've done some additional detailing, and gotten to the engines. Looking pretty good, I think. It's sitting at 30K polys - which is quite reasonable for the sheer scale of this thing.

Point of Origin: Vol. V, No. 6
New building! The June 9, 1995 issue of the Point of Origin chronicles Origin's final move - to the building most of our readers associate with the company.

A very special thanks to Joe Garrity of the Origin Museum for making this resource available and to Electronic Arts for sending them to him in the first place!

  • In Ink... doesn't mention Wing Commander III?!: "Now turning to our games of the future. Check out the June issue of Electronic Entertainment. You may notice that Wing Commander IV already has garnered its first magazine cover and it's still some seven months from ship. Yes, that's some of the early art from the game. A pat on the back goes to Chris Douglas and Jennifer Davis for helping to put something together at such an early date."
  • The Gospel throws in a rumor about WCIV: "Wing IV just cast Brad Pitt as Maniac's rival, Menace... BS. Just seeing if you were paying attention."
  • New Hires has some... well, you know: "Our first new victim :) is Leif Ashley, who is working for Dallas Snell on the Wing IV team as a CGI Modeler/Animator. Leif comes to us from Lotus Development Corp. (good timing, Leif!), where he worked on Ami Pro for OS/2, Solaris, HP-UX and Windows. Leif is a big fan of the Wing Commander series, so Wing IV is his dream project."
