Point of Origin: Vol. III, No. 39 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Update ID

The funny subheader makes its return to the May 21st, 1993 issue of Point of Origin ("A Texas Tradition"). It's hard to exactly gauge what's going on at this point... sales for Strike are apparently disappointing, but they also seem to be higher than almost everything else on the market. Was Strike Commander similar to Wing Commander IV in that respect? Regardless, be sure and check out the New Hires page of this issue...

A very special thanks to Joe Garrity of the Origin Museum for making this resource available and to Electronic Arts for sending them to him in the first place!

  • Sales Dogs has an interesting list: "Not coincidentally, the top ten EA (and affiliate) floppy titles are: Strike, Jordan in Flight, Strike Speech Pack, Ultrabots, Serpent, Tony LaRussa Baseball, Comanche, Comanche Mission Disk, Wing Commander and Great Naval Battles. Underworld 2 and Wing 2 check in at #22 and #23, respectively."
  • Global Press Roundup has some good news from Germany: "In the May issue [of PC Games], ORIGIN FX gets a nice write-up. 'If you think that good animation is not possible under Windows,' the editors write, 'you will be speechless after watching these little movies'... Strike still tops all the magazine's other flight sim ratings, including Comanche, Falcon, Strike Eagle and even Wing Commander."
  • Pulse Check reports that Quality Assurance is working on Academy: "Things have been going well - we've got new blood on the ph ones in C/S, and some of the C/S flying aces have been testing Wing Academy in QA and are helping to rid the world of pesky bugs every day."
