Today, April 1st, 2006, marks the 8th anniversary of Dan "Akkbar" Hardwicke's fall from grace over a WCHS April Fools update claiming that Origin would release a multiplayer patch to Wing Commander Prophecy. Well, for once, it's time to admit we were wrong: fooling aside, nearly a decade later there actually will be a multiplayer version of Prophecy.
This means big things for the CIC: if Akkbar was right all these years, he must also have been right about everything else. To that end, we will now be selling out for advertising space and promoting terrible MMP games that aren't related to Wing Commander because we're allowed to play them for free. In order to better emulate whatever prescient brilliance that allowed Akkbar to see so far into the future, staff members will be leaving their succesful careers to become vagrants and alcoholics.
You may also notice that we won't be covering Wing Commander Academy anymore -- it's just a cartoon!... but you can expect a lot more football commentary, since that's very manly.
