What type of pilot are you?

I'm a dogfighter, and I prefer light fighters, the WC4 Banshee is my fav ship. I don't really often use decoys, when a missile chases me, I maneuver wildly around to shake it, or sometimes I shoot it(in WCP; try that in WC4, that's an exercise in masochism :p ). I often use autoslide when attacking capships, and in WC3/4 I often fly inside the carriers and blow them up from there.
 
Head-on dogfight all the way. The Raptor, to me, was the best Wing Commander ship ever (ok, yeah, I know other ships really kick ass but the Raptor just rocks) and I was very very disappointed when they never made a new version (especially when I saw the freaking Rapier II in WC-2. I can't stand either version of that ship). Raptor has wonderful firepower, takes tons of damage, and still gets you home. Can't ask for more!

WC-II, I'll take the Ferret. Don't ask, I know I'm insane. I'd much rather have it than an Epee, I can't stand the Rapier II, and the Sabre's got good firepower but its shields go down too dang fast.

For WC-3 and 4, gimmie a Thunderbolt. That ship's cool, but can't ever get to the same level as a Raptor. It's all about the one shot Salthi kill (which you can do in a Rapier, I know, but it feels so much cooler in the Raptor) and the two shot Dralthi kill.

I never really used missiles until WC-3 and 4, and then it's all about the IR and Leech combo. Works like a dream. :)

I had fun with those too for some reason. But I hate escort missions. Ever since my first one in WC1 to today there my worse and my lease favorite missions.
 
I'm a Devastator. I learned how to use the plasma cannon for everything - it makes a nice antifighter gun if you can get the required lead down nicely ...
 
I enjoy punching the afterburner and burrowing straight into ships, then turning around and doing the same thing over again. Often I become overly enthusiastic and end up ramming.
 
i like going full guns and shifting the shields to the front.
if im invisible cheating, i shift power away from my shields completely.
i save my missles for cap. ships
 
I also like going on full guns and try to make every shot count. Some of my friends prefer to select lasers and blasters alone and keep their fingers down when chasing the enemy. Me personally like to see at the end of the mission high shooting accuracy :)

Also, I use the missiles rarely. And shoot only when I am sure I'm gonna score. So, never shoot the missile on a head on head situation. Hate to see missiles blown away before reaching the enemy :)

Hey ! Thats the spirit.....I love playing at Nightmare,cause I think its more reallistic....you always got a missle in your tail and in Wc4 one missle ca-boom you are history :)

Speradon:Dont worry a lot of guys like the ferret ,small fighter with a pair of MassDrivers that can take out anything,remidns me the old Scimitar.

I like to dogfight,hate bombing missions (being in a bomber,else I like protecting them) .

Favorite all time fighters Hellcat,Rapier and Scimitar
 
give me a fighter and i'll fly it. i don't realy have a fav type of mission. i like to dogfight, but it's also very exiting to aproach a capship and let a torp lock. just wait untill it's locked, and let the babe fly.

by the way, i love to fly the devastator. just make a head-on with a fighter (taunt-a-lot), en fire that plasma :D

That ship has a way of usally tiping the scale in your favor when dogfighting a fighter dosent it? :D
 
Uhg, the Ferret. The OTHER reason I like bombers: I have this nasty habit of giving enemies a bump (or two or three), and if you do that in the Ferret, bad things happen. (If it were real, I couldn't even fit in the thing ...) One thing I liked to do in the earlier WC games (in a heavier fighter) was to arm and lock a missile, then afterburn pointing just under the incoming wing, pop off a missile at around 4000m, then smack them while they dodged, still afterburning. I can take down two or three fighters at once that way. Also, full guns are the best ...

*Thank god Maniac doesn't use the full weapon capability of his fighter in SO2 ... I ~HATE~ that stupid missile!*
 
A moment that sticks out in my head is along time ago when I was playing WC1 for the first time and I had a missle lock on me. I looked out at my port side and saw a enemy fighter and the missle. At just the right moment I dived and out of the two top corners of my front view screen I saw explosions and realized that I had two missles on me one from each side and they both took eachother out
 
im the type that loves heavy fighters, look at the3 excaliber and dragon? u pit a dragon against a vampire, or any other ship class for that matter and u will tear them to hell.

wouldnt take much to rip a devestator apart either with the dragons weapons, and its sheilds and armour are stronger then even the devestator....

boyya, though with any fighter other then a dragon or exceliber, i like using all my missles first, i dont really use missle with auto tracking ships, why bother

It all comes down to the pilot using it. Even the most powerfull weapon can be useless if the user can't use it properly. Anyways we have diffrent ships in the WC games for diffrent situations. If not we would of been using one ship threw a hole game continuously.

Even though that would get really really boring.
 
i spose so, but i love the dragon, id take any other player in a dragon 1v1 and im sure id come out pretty well.....

but then arrogfence has always been my problem, id probebly end up like seether
