What type of pilot are you?

So what type of ship/piloting methods do you guys perfure? Personally I like bombing and torpido runs. Using gunships and bombers and focusing more on accuracy.

I guess I'm a dogfighter.

I like to take my time, maneuver a lot and just generally play with my foes for a certain amount of time before knocking them down.

It's not always the best way to fly though as sometimes you need to take the enemy down quickly, but when you do have the time, that's what I enjoy doing

So for the most part, I guess the light fighters suit my style of play

Mark this date in your calanders, I haven't posted anything in this type of debate in a long long time.

Now, to the question at hand:
I like heavy and medium fighters, the Raptor especially. The more fire power the better.
There's nothing quite like afterburning into a pack of Dralthis with full guns blazing and taking out one or two ships in one voley.

If a dogfight lasts too long for me (like more than 30 seconds) I start getting frustrated and launch a few missiles to get it over with (which I usually regret doing later on in the mission).

As you can see, I'm not much of a maneuvering junkie...

I know what you mean, I hardly do it myself but I've been known to fall to it a few times.

I like to take out fighters with guns... However, if there are too many bogies on my tail and my wing man is useless, dead, or ejected, then I'll try and take a few out quickly with missiles to even the score a little so their not breathing fire and missiles up my a**.

Oh, and I almost always try to take out the heavy's first. (they carry more missiles and stronger guns). This is especialy important on escort missions.

I use to be a big interceptor fan; use to love Arrows. But for the last 5 years, I've been more of a light bomber fan. Thunderbolts in WC3 are my dream ships - yeah, they're light on the missiles, but they have a huge gun loadout and a torpedo.

Generally I like the speed of and Agility of an Arrow or Hellcat. But sometimes being the badass with a bomber is best.

I generally like flying anything I can really humiliate my opponent in, though the Raptor is my all time fav.
WC3 I'll usually load up a Hellcat or T-bolt with dumbfires only and just afterburn in on their tail and drop one it at the last second, usually taking them out with one shot.:D
It's basically the same for WC4, albeit with Dragon and its fission cannon.
Prophecy is a tougher call, considering you can't choose your loadout. But I usually like to go with a Devastator or a Piranha, cause I love the heavy plasma gun and the Stormfire.

Sharpshooter/minor dogfighting. My all-time favorite weapon was the Charged Mass Driver. I seldom used missiles, except when pressed for time.

Hmmm...

I like light fighters. Afterburn into the middle of the furball and dump missiles as fast as they cycle. Give me a Hellcat or a Piranha and I'm happy.

I used to be a gunfight person, I loved dogfighting basically forgetting about my missiles. I always wondered why my wingmen always turned away after getting hit once or twice during an engagement while I just pressed home my attack. Then I turned up the difficulty to crazy and nightmare recently. Now I just try to stay alive. It's so damn pitiful that a Darket is now a major threat to me because of 1 thing. . . missiles. the Kilrathi learned how to use missiles. Therefore, I find myself emulating my wingmen and my foes, pop off a missile while going head to head with an adversary usually makes his end quick and turning away trying to get better positioning if my shields even get a scratch.
Now my flying style is whatever keeps me alive. Usually flying about trying to dodge missiles, trying to keep my wingman alive, and getting my shots in when I can.

My ships have to be extremely hard hitters. Fairly maneuvrable preferably. Low on armor or missiles or even without an ITTS, that's ok.

Strategy is usually doing some Maniac stunt at the start - flying through the streams of fire. Causing as much chaos as possible in the enemy formation. Then ready the big fat gun (or having it charged at all that stunt time) and kill one of the enemies once and for all. I don't like wounded prey. I mostly don't fire if I am not pretty sure I will be able to kill him completely.

Repeat as needed ;)

WC3-Excaliburs
WC4-everyone's favorate the Dragon
WCP-Vampires on escort runs
UE-defense missions in that Scim, especially when there are Barracudas around. (take off there shields and hit them with the Dart II dumbfire weaker than light torp.

I´m a good capship defender, so I just love the Wasp. There are some horrible-odds scramble missions in WCP and UE that I really love to play.
