To Original Phoenix

Woah take it easy fly boy. No need to get so hot under the collar. I was just pointing out that some people, such as myself, are students and can't afford such things in life just yet. It seems to me you guys need to have or holiday or some calming activity...

Don't you worry, when I'm rich, in around 15-20 years time, I'll come gunning after you with my 30000 collection of DVDs or whatever format that will supersede it. ;)

No, you were being a prick. I should know, as being a prick is in my job description. Or was, when I had a job.

I think the heat death of the universe would come first.

Phoenix was just answering my question -- not bragging.

And his picture was *earned* -- he helped design all the graphics at the CIC...

Bah...I was, and am, completely calm. Just hit me as a "WTF is THAT supposed to mean?" kind of thing.

Heh heh...first, I'm far from rich. I AM fortunate at 30 years old to have a well-paying job that I ENJOY going to, and a fairly keen sense of money management. But don't worry -- you younger folks' time isn't far off....

Sorry dude if you took it the wrong way! But I'm sort of scraping a living together with my odd AUD6-10g a year (about USD3-5g) a year. Doesn't leave too much for life's luxuries!

Hmmm....the casino is always a good option....

Financially, life sucks hole at 18...

Oh I'm sure it was (I already knew he designed the graphics)... :)

I was just saying that I liked his pic, c'est tout...

DVDS: The Limey, Fight Club, Way of the Gun, Evil Dead 2, Stargate SG-1 (DVD #1), The Thin Red Line, Princess Mononoke, Trainspotting, Dark City, The Professional (International Edition), Transformers: The Movie, Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas, Being John Malkovitch, Heat, 2001, A Clockwork Orange, Alien, A Simple Plan, Batman Beyond: The Movie, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (also have the uncensored version on VHS), Gladiator, Better Living Through Circuitry, Sleepy Hollow, Opposite of Sex.

VHS is too wide and varried to begin to count. Everything from Pencil tests from Thief and the Cobbler to 15 second flashes of Natalie Portman to old Episodes of Millennium.

I've only got a few DVDs, since I only got my DVD player at Christmas...

Blade Runner (Director's Cut)
Dances With Wolves
Das Boot (Director's Cut)
Escape from Sobibor (pretty good for a low-budget movie, actually, and it's got Rutger Hauer in it)
Lawrence of Arabia
The Postman (another Kevin Costner film, and quite good)
Wing Commander

Quarto:

Wow, someone else who actually liked The Postman. I thought it was actually a very good movie, even if the critics (or most people, it seems) didn't like it.

I did too! Actually saw it in the theater, even if me and my friend were the only ones in there:)

No DVD's but still i gots movies

Wing Commander
Ghostbusters
Lost in Space (it was a gift)
The Faculty (love this movie)
Die Hard Trilogy
Mallrats
Tremors
Fight Club
American Pie
Swingers
X-Men
Star Trek 1-4 and First Contact
Starship Troopers
Striking Distance
The Last Boy Scout

Postman rocks! *glances at angry mob, that appears ready to kill*..... um and by postman I mean.. um.. the philosopher.
*angry mob's thurst for blood quickly fades*

I've got Das Boot on DVD, too. that's strange: 3 people at the cic that have the Das Boot DVD, that is quite a lot considering it is not an american movie...

I'll make a list of what I've got later -- but I, too, have Das Boot. And it's clearly a movie that impressed Chris Roberts...

Das Boot is an amazing film. I actually watched it three times in a row after I bought it. Well, all right - I only watched it three times because it had multiple soundtracks on the DVD (I watched it in English, then Director's comments, and then French). But I enjoyed it even more every time :).

As for The Postman... it's got great music, good acting, great visuals, a sophisticated storyline (probably why people didn't like it), and it's the only movie I ever saw where I actually felt proud when I saw the American flag at the end. I mean, for someone who studies international relations, and therefore is used to thinking of the US as a very bad thing, that's really something. I think that's what they were aiming for with Independence Day (which was an awful, awful, awful film... dumb, illogical plot, bad acting, and major propaganda overload), but The Postman actually does it right.

Hmm, I'm gonna have to watch it again some time soon ;).

Ohh man i am still waiting for some Adriano Celentano movies on DVD.
This guy is sooooooooooooooooo cool!!!
who's next a yes bud spencer and terence hill yeah and 3'rd

most cool people in cinema history
