The one to end all.....

I'm pretty sure he mentioned it in another thread, so there is a good chance he really likes the ferret. It is a really nice ship, it was certianly my favorite in wcII.

Yeah, I like the Ferret -- it's quick and light...

But seriously, it's a damn maneuverable little spacecraft, and the recharge rates on her guns and shields are incredible... Ferrets have a nice simple cockpit layout... basically, they're a joy to fly.

Yes -- it seems to large and powerful to be as maneuverable as it is... I could never get used to the balance. The Ferret is a fighter you don't have to think about -- no weapons switching, no fear of running out of power... no missiles.

The only thing I didn't like about the Rapier was the cockpit being like really heavily framed.

I always thought the Morningstar was the nicest fighter to look at...

Scimitars are the coolest fighters in any WC game. The most fun to fly, and great loadout. I *never* had a problem when I flew a Scimitar. They just suit my style I guess.

And still... Ferrets from the Border Worlds were the first ones to get destroyed in the Price of Freedom novel...
Obviously outgunned my the superior new Confed fighters... but still... if they were as good as you describe them LOAF... ;)
No ship could survive such dogfights with NO missiles...

The thing about Ferrets is that apart from being statistically excellent, they also look great.

And the strangest thing about the Ferret is that it was even in WC2, a second string fighter, relegated to Insystem security and escort carriers:)

With just mass drivers and no missiles? Theres no versatility there whatsoever despite how well it actually handles.

Loaf I'll kill you! The WC3 Excalibur was the BEST FIGHTER in the series, best colour scheme, Give me it and I'll kill any dragon, any day.

No versatility? If you define that as being able to fire 37 different colors of little balls, then I suppose the Ferret can't -- but that pair of mass drivers can fire almost indefinately... and because it mounts them, it's shields can sustain even the flak-guns of a capship!

I never was very enthusiastic about the Ferret. It just seemed...so...so...dull. I guess that's just me.

the Excalibur is there to love...wich i do

and love the scim, for it is just a great ship, botth to fly and to crush your foe's

I love both the Raptor and the Thud VII, Heavy Fighters with lots of guns and shield..... perfect for ramming.

Light fighters

I'll be the first to say that light fighters deserve a lot more credit than they get...but I can't stand the ferret. NO shields, almost no armor, light weapons, no missiles, Hell, it doesn't even have a damage display!
On the other hand, (this is gonna get me crucified), contrary to all the complaints I've seen about it, I love the Epee. I NEVER lost a mission in one of those ships.

...

Umm, I know it's widely used, but in a certain sence, it would be inappropiete to refer to the Thunderbolt as the "Thud". The P-47 Thunderbolt from World War II was actually refered to as the "Jug", and the F-105 Thunderchief attack fighter of Vietnam fame (or infamy) is known as the Thud. Or, if you're feeling grumpy, you could call the T-bolt "Lead Sled" - but then, it's not my job to decide these things, so go ahead and call it what you damn well please. :)
