The one to end all.....

Best for: (pick one)

1) Dying early
2) Having to do a mission over and over again
3) Wishing they were never constructed?

What? The Ferret is the best patrol fighter of the time.
At least in the games it was the only patrol fighter of the time. :)

And mpanty, to each, his or her own opinion. :)

No versatility? If you define that as being able to fire 37 different colors of little balls, then I suppose the Ferret can't -- but that pair of mass drivers can fire almost indefinately... and because it mounts them, it's shields can sustain even the flak-guns of a capship!

So your withstanding the flak guns of a capship, so what? You cant do anything to it. Ands Forget about ever mounting a torpedo on one. WHy not just put a big bullseye on it and tell the cats to shoot.

Why? So you can wait with your ceremonial dagger in front of my house? :D
But seriously, I think I'll be in Montreal for the next two months... May and June... taking an Organic Chemistry course, and catching up on my Calculus class that I failed...
I suppose that after that I'll have two months vacation (July and August) in France and Italy...
Then in September back to uni... :-(((

How 'bout you? Anything special planned for Summer?

[Edited by mpanty on 04-24-2001 at 16:44]

I will perhaps be in France too at that time and we could meet and I could throw my insults directly into your face! :)

I'll work, go to university, and fly. I'll farer travel to a little German town called Kyritz(lies in the former DDR near Berlin). So there I'll fly two weeks nonstop...it's really funny. Our club moving cross Germany...with the whole equipment, camping on the airfield...And a travel to Bavaria for one week. To visit a friend. So then my posts will come very less. I am the whole holidays on travel. That are my plans for the 6 weeks summer holidays...:)
For the rest of summer...I'll go to school, fly on the weekends. No further plans at all.

Try convoy interdiction -- a Ferret can wreak havoc on enemy transports while leaving the much vaunted destroyer escorts that would threaten heavier fighters practically useless -- the Ferret is to maneuverable to be caught by an AMG and her recharge is too good to be affected by flak.

(Or, of course, recon... a Ferret can get up close to an enemy capship and learn anything that's needed... or bomber escort, Ferrets can clear out an enemy capital ships fighter cover while within its flak umbrella...)

Try Hobbes.
Weeell... I suppose he *did* show some support, when he treacherously killed Cobra and fled in that Thunderbolt with the plans of the Temblor bomb... :)

I'll be the first to say that light fighters deserve a lot more credit than they get...but I can't stand the ferret. NO shields, almost no armor, light weapons, no missiles, Hell, it doesn't even have a damage display!
On the other hand, (this is gonna get me crucified), contrary to all the complaints I've seen about it, I love the Epee. I NEVER lost a mission in one of those ships.

I love the Epee, too, and always won the missions with it the first time. But maybe these missions were just easy? I don't know, but it is the best ship, certainly.

Uh huh, WC2 was my first WC experience, so I was a little concerned to have to fly under the Fralthra's flak in one of the first missions, but the Ferret's shields kept me safe. :)

Note that I mentioned Hobbes, not Ralgha.

I never really believed in that "personality ovveride"...
Hobbes was either a schizo, or a good actor... I choose the latter...

To each his own, I guess. I prefer to think that "Hobbes" really was my friend, and he had no choice buyt to betray me when the "Ralgha" personality surfaced after Thrakath's message. That way, the memory of the friendship he and Blair shared still retains something of its value.

Best, Raptor

Never really believed it? What other aspects of the known and "factual" WC universe do you not believe?

It was always a disappointment to me that Ralgha
did not survive the last mission in WC3. Granted that
he was not Hobbes, I suspect that Hobbes' personality
was based on Ralgha's, with some attributes exaggerated
(e.g. compassion for humans) and others suppressed (e.g.
Loyalty to Kilrah).

I wonder -- if he had survived, might he and Blair have
become friends after the war? After all, Ralgha didn't
actively hate Blair -- he simply did his duty as best
he could, with as much honor as he could. After
the war, his honor might have compelled him to help
Melek rebuild the shattered Kilrathi empire, and he
and Blair might very well have been on the same side
again by the WC4 time frame.

It sounds far out, but I know for a fact that it is not
unknown for WWII vets from opposing sides to befriend
and even work together after the war. ISTR one Japanese
and one American pilot even made a barnstorming duo
where they re-enacted their last battle in restored
WWII airplanes for paying audiences.

Respectfully,

Brian P.

Probably not, since Hobbes had killed two of Blair's friends in his escape...

Although I would like to see more about how the Kilrathi are integrated into post-war society...

"Factual"?
Hey, remember that the whole "personality activation" thing is what Hobbes tells you... it might not be necessarily true... at least in the game...

Of course, if the novel differs by stating that fact clearly (by the 3rd character tense -author)... we get back into the canonicity debate...

Great... I don't want to either... :)
You'd probably win anyway, LOAF... so no point for me to try... ;)
