Actually, I thought the missions in WingIV were better than in WingIII. In Win3 the missions were essentially the same stuff over again (that is not to say that they were not fun.) And the missions of Wing3 did not fit quite as well into the story. Sometimes it seemed rather arbitrary why we were doing this patrol or this escort et cetara. In WingIV, in my opinion at least, the missions all felt carefully intertwined with the story. Wing2 also captured this balance--especially in the Special Operations disks. The problem is not so much that the gameplay part was not as good, its more about not having as many improvements as people expected. If you really think about it, the improvements of WC2 over WC was mostly cinematic too. It is just that back then Wing was so revolutionary and games were not evolving as fast as they are today so people did not care as much. And besides, did people actually think you could write a new engine in a year.
Hey, Zor, I notice you live in Arlington Texas. I also live in the Metroplex.
