Evil Fan Wciv Reviews!!!!!

I personally don't believe that the gameplay suffers much in relation to the movies. Yes, there are TONS of movies in that Wing4, but is it just me, or are those missions damned hard?!

To me, that's the balance. There aren't 70 million missions (Aren't there only 35 in WC2?), but they are very hard and challenging (for me), and that is what gameplay is mostly about.

X-Wing, by contrast, has over 150 missions, many of them freakin' hard :)

I'll forgive X-Wing's inferior graphics engine because of it's replayability and it's (at times) insane difficulty.

Almost all the game is dificult, but Tie-Fighter is IMHO better and flying with the Dark Lord of the Sith is pricelees !!

I like X-Wing because it's hard. I like some of the nifty details in TIE, but going after evil defecting admiral after evil defecting admiral got really really boring ("Good job, Alpha 1... but another evil admiral has defected to the rebels!"). I also don't like how easy TIE's training stuff is. X-Wing was a genuine challenge, but the TIE combat trials are laughable ("Now fly straight through a tube!").

I don't much like the post XW and TIE games because of their weird textures. It's like somebody poured gray goop all over the original games 3D models.

pity the foo who gets that copy of wc armada!

to be quite frank those people saying that cos wc4 was the first wc they ever played, they bought everything, most every one feels likewise about the first game they played, my first was wc2 and thats my fave. wc4's missions are in some cases fun, theres lil secrets and cunning things that make the game interesting, but the fact is that no matter how good the cutscenes and missions, the story is the main part of the game, and whilst it isnt a cakewalk it is significantly easier than certain games. the fact that the intro is about 5 mins then u fly 1 mission and get another! just shows that the game is alot more movie based than wc3. the thing is that these reviewers arent in love with the universe like the fans. thus what they see as a short coming, we may see as a bonus, personally thought wc4 was rather poor, but only because i didnt like the angle the story took, not because the story was poor or the missions poor either.
i admit that the wc4 missions are better intertwined than the wc3 ones into the game and thats good

lastly both X-eing and TF have a couple of shortcomings that make them inferior, one theyre not WC, and they cant be, and second they dont feel like wc, the story isnt as powerfully intertwined, whereas even wc1 had the story slammed into the game! and even then i dont like the story in the star-wars games

I liked TieFighter way better than X-Wing because I found X-Wing just plain ugly when compared to WC1. The cutscenes in TF were also way cooler IMO and flying for the Empire is just cool. Agreed TF is easier than X-Wing and I liked the targeting comp in X-Wing, still I had more fun with TF.

I'm playing through Tie fighter at the mo, I've just saved the emporer and am now working through defender of the empire, its my second favorite game (next to wing commander) I like the strong story line , the briefing map an then asking your commander questions about the mission, shame something like that never made it into the wing commander games :(, it would have enhanced my pleasure to virtually uncontrolable levels (no innuendos please)

Yes, the story is well-made in TF. I liked it how Zaarin escaped in TF and how you fight him in Defender. And I'll never forget that wonderful cutscene in TF: "Now you shall pay for your treachery" <crunch> :)

I loved TF. Its one of the best star wars games ever. X wing was harder ill admit, but the story in TF was way better. Especially, the 'secrative' guy who gave you bonus objectives, and how you could advance in the emperors secret order. That was cool.

IIRC, 31 missions in the Enigma campaign, and at least 46 in total (winning/losing tracks).

And now you know why it's so easy to kill TIE fighters. :)

Wouldn't defecting from the Empire to the Alliance make you good rather than evil? :p

On second thoughts, never mind. I'm not in the mood for one of those "evil is absolute/relative" debates just now, as much fun as they are. :p

Apparently, from what I read in a SW roleplaying source book, the empire wasn't even that evil. It seems that only the outer, less civilized worlds were hard-pushed by the Empire, whereas the core worlds were enjoying a rather peaceful live and were quite surprised that their Emperor was murdered and some rebels have established rule as the New Republic. I found that extremey funny because I have a friend who is a staunch devoter for the rebels and always told me how evil and gruesome the Empire was and that everybody hated it. :)

Yeah, those role playing books make them really, really evil ("And then they killed all the Mon Calamari for no reason!"), but nothing in the movies really shows that. They only blow up Alderaan because they're at war with the rebels.

(And why is it that they can go blow up Mon Calamari once, but not go and stop them from making Mon Calamari cruisers?)

Well, this RPG book didn't show them to be so evil, only hard against the rim worlds which is no surprise to me, considering that most of the rebels, pirates and smugglers are staioned there.

And why, ohhhhh why ????
Zaarin had a white outfit of Grand Admiral if he isn't a Grand Admiral ehhh ???
And why a General is in the space flying a Tie ??????

:)
