The CIS Smithers was an MCPH Prototype operated by the Central Intelligence Service. In 2790, Vel Ricaud delivered a black box recorder recovered from the destruction of a Salvia-class destroyer which had been captured by the Kindred to the Smithers. A CIS inspectorate aboard was resonsible for examining the recorder to determine how the destroyer had been taken.
