It's time to announce the winners of our annual Web Site and Fan Project of the Year Awards! Voting is always close, but the winners have been selected. Unfortunately we can't give everyone an award, but we should thank all the nominees for helping our community.
And the winner of Wing Commander Web Site of the Year is.. Fleet Tactics!
One of the youngest nominees proved to be the most popular in 2004. Fleet Tactic's immersive atmosphere and sharp presentation won over the most votes.
The runner up for Wing Commander Web Site of the Year is.. Wedge's Wing Commander Site.
The resourceful depth of Wedge's site was useful to many WC fans once again.
And in the Fan Project of the Year category.. the winner is.. Standoff!
The Standoff team combined a popular era with the most advanced Wing Commander engine to create their project. This new experience received the most votes.
And the runner up should be no surprise.. WC Saga!
Saga's refinement of the Freespace engine was also very popular this year. We expect to be having fun with this one soon.
Honorable Mention: The Privateer Remake also came in a decent third in the Fan Projects category. Congratulations to all the Wing Commander web sites and fan projects for persisting and thriving in 2004!

Polish Program Promotes Prophecy
AD found an interesting VHS recording of a '90s Polish video game show, TV Enter. In this episode they review several games, including Dreams to Reality, Critical Depth, Rampage World Tour and Wing Commander: Prophecy. Whether or not you speak the language, this is a very interesting time capsule into the digital landscape of 20 years ago. (2018-12-08)

It's Not Faith, It's Cosplay
Wing Commander fans have dressed up as their favorite pilots and paraded around at a number of conventions over the years, but most have been associated with a CIC-sponsored activity. That makes st3lt3k's recent find a fun surprise. He spotted this image taken by foxpaws at the 2011 San Diego Comic Con. (2018-12-06)
Testing WC1 on Classic Hardware with SetMul
PhilsComputerLab has a new video on a program that slows down older machines. As early as 66 MHz started to come on the market, fans had to use programs like moslo to get the original Wing Commander smoothly playable. This presented an issue whereby a system powerful enough to run WC3/4 was too powerful to run WC1. (2018-12-05)
