There's good news on the drive to make more Wing Commander music! With over $8000 in contributions so far, the project is more than 50% towards its $15,000 minimum goal after five days. The new campaign aims for enhanced digital reorchestrations as well as live recording of the Victory's bar music at a much lower cost than previous attempts. And if the project goes over the minimum threshold for success, that just helps potentially make a full live recording more likely down the line.
Since the prospects look good this time around, George has already started making headway on the first track. He's posted an awesome example of some new Wing Commander 3 combat music below. There's also a new $120 tier added that comes with a copy of the score, new album and one of the remaining copies of Volume 1. This is a good option for anyone who missed out on the first CD. A limited number of additional copies can be obtained by also adding $40 to any existing option.
In anticipation of a successful campaign I'm going ahead with as much orchestration as time permits. Here is a video of playback of a finished score from some combat music from WC3. The sounds in my notation software don't quite do it justice (I'll create a separate MIDI arrangement for the phase 1 CD that will sound a LOT better) and of course when (not if :) we get to the orchestra stage it will sound incredible!
The piece loops back to the beginning and will eventually fade in the orchestral version. This is ALSO an example of what the PDFs will look like except they'll be in page format.
