About	Major Tom Vale spent twelve years fighting the Kilrathi and another two years policing the Confederation - Kilrathi border. He was then given command of a Arrow patrol squadron, which sometimes escorted convoys. The squadron was made up of himself, Tiger, Sparrow and Scarman. Scarman was Vale's wingman, and young Sparrow flew on Tiger's wing. Tom Vale was killed with the rest of his squadron while escorting the Ashiri Maru convoy through the Nephele System. Seether and a number of other Black Lance pilots attacked the convoy, leaving no survivors.
