WC4 Mod For Homeworld 2 In The Works (June 5, 2006)

He doesn't currently have any plans to add the Kilrathi in as a playable race, sorry.

Correct. He does have some Kilrathi ships modded for HW2, but I think he has his plate full in the first place between making three "races" worth of ships, adding AI and supporting higher resolutions. The guy has a lot on his plate already.

the cats would add some new ship designs in game. and are well balanced enough to work. only not much is heard of in wc4 only a part where you escort revugees to their new homeworld

You see, I never played Wing Commander 2-4, so I wouldn't know if the Kilrathi were in the game. I read more of the posts, yes missions on single player do work, and the marine shuttles do too. If you are on mission 3, no worries the shipyard will repair itself just wait around 10 minutes.

try retrieving the oracle mate;)

I kindly refer to the last several posters to an older quote...

well i dont think i will be putting a kilrathi carrier in. i think people will have to wait till i get this mod done and then (if they like what they see and want more) i will move onto a WC3 mod.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! I am oficially on leave starting today :). i have come on holiday to my folks place and will be here till the 1st. sorry for lack of progress on the mod over the last few weeks, but be prepared for a quick release of a new version with black lance once im back from vacation. take care all and hope all have a lovely christmas this year :)!

Merry Christmas to everyone!
Have a great holiday czacen!

I can't wait to try out your mod, czacen. I havn't had the opportunity to do so yet, as I have been rather, displaced a few thousand miles from my computer, and stuck with an old late-90's computer. But, I love what I have heard and seen! Keep up the great work!

Hi everyone Happy New Year! Sorry for the late greetings but i only just got back from vacation a few hrs ago and fired up the machine, and perhaps found the best present i received this year waiting for me on the CIC front page :D. Thank you to all who voted for the mod as the fan project of the year. Its been amazing fun for me to put this together, and its been the fan's support and interest that has made me work at this mod with such continuous enthusiasm. Thanks to all who have helped in the growth and development of the mod till date. Thanks to all CIC staff for making this site the wc playground that it is and allowing us to enjoy wing commander in new and truely unique ways. Thanks everyone, give me a day to settle in and ill be back on getting the new release out asap :)

Two new ships to the black lance fleet. Frigate class is complete. axius starbase, black lance research and flashpack have yet to be implemented. C&C welcome.

As always, very nice work czacen. Your speed on this mod remains astounding.

LOAF, if you get a chance to read this, perhaps you can give some suggestions as to the mod? Be it the look or questions on the gameplay?

Congratulations on your Mod of the Year award. You richly deserve it.

As for C&C: Why do the transports have additional pylons? What role will they serve?

thanks lehah, bob. hope you guys had a great Christmas and new year's celebration. bob the transport shown above is the jamming transport in WC4. there are supposed to be just 3 pylons but a made 2 extra just to flesh out the design a little. this ship will serve as the cloaking generator for black lance ships so that they can disappear from radar just like the black lance hid the space station in wc4.

Just a suggestion, about jump buoys.
Would it be possible to give them to the players in their starting fleet, and then they won't be able to produce any other jump buoys. With this, they could become a strategic asset for each player, who will need to protect them, and to use them carefuly ("When do I deploy one of my 4 jump buoys, at the beginning, to surprise the enemy, but with a risk of its destruction, or at the end, when I'll have a big enough fleet to protect it ?").

Otherwise, I just finished the SP campaign with the mod. Absolutely fantastic (to get it more difficult, I divided by 10 the firepower of torpedoes) : I tried to show my mighty fleet of Tallahassee, when I saw Vaygr cruiser rip them apart (their main gun is as eficient as a phase transit cannon on those poor Confed and BW cruisers).

I'm not at all criticising czacen's ideas at all - he probably has a better understanding about gameflow and balance that I ever will. But too much cloaking is simply too much cloaking. A ship that cannot be seen by sensors is something else entirely - a cloaked ship cannot be seen by sensors or by the human eye.

There is something between the stealth ships (seen in WCA) and the fully invisible cloakable ships later on. The first Confed Shroud cloaks were a bit of an interim step between the two.

That's an interesting possibility since there really wasn't an 'anti-cloaking' device that we know of in the WC games. It might have been an extra element that Confed had to deal with; we know of the devestating results of such a nightmare when we hear about Kilrathi stealth ships decloaking and destroying Blair's ship, and he takes the blame for it.

Why that didn't continue and how Confed conceivably countered this threat; I don't know.. does Loaf have an explanation for how Confed dealt with this 'horror' and why the Kilrathi didn't destroy every Confed ship in this manner?

The Ghorah Khar rebellion set back Kilrathi cloaking R&D by a good decade or so. Once the program came back online and cloaking fighters began popping up again, it was only a couple short years before Confed had developed its own cloaks, sensors that were capable of seeing through cloaks and guns that disrupted a fighter's ability to cloak (as seen in WC Armada, WC3 & WC4).

Despite what the games seem to imply, cloaking ships are a real rarity until Prophecy - and then the bugs can detect cloak ships (as witnessed in an unfinished, unused level early in the game)

And also implied by the ICIS manual which mentions that a naval base which had access to cloaking recon Excaliburs had already lost half a dozen flights of fighters sent to investigate the initial incursion.
