Movie Madness? WCM2??

Iam not jumping on the bandwagon. I am the bandwagon. I have been a Star Trek Fan since I was wee little. Since before the time of Wing commander!!!! I know what I'm talking about.

All I have to say is that I never saw Scream 2 and Toy Story 2, I just made a brief research on the Internet, and they are two titles I have come up with.
As for MI2, mpanty really enjoyed it, FOR REAL!! Eminem says:
"So if you don't like that, you can su*k his fuc*ing co*k!!!" :p
I did not see ToyStory2 but I saw Scream2 and it was far worse than Scream1( and Scream3 was even worse than 2).
So when mpanty enjoyed MI2, he should be careful not to be bitten in sensitive areas. :D

Theres that bandwagon again. Everyone said it enough so that everyone excepts it as fact. Take time to evaluate these things for yourself and you may have a different opinion on things. Just like everyone assumes that the Wing Commander movie was the worst thing on film.

I was a Trekkie from being wee little too :)

If it weren't for Trek, I wouldn't be interested in SciFi, and the wonderful world of WC.

Actually I thought ST5 wasn't a bad movie at all, just no where near as good as the even set. Just everyone bags it because its about 'god'. However, it shows whats believed as God to be a super-evolved alien.

Thats why I like B5 so much. It reasons religion with an alien spin on it. This appeals as I am Athiest :)

There is nothing wrong with being a Star Trek fan. Hell I was during the DS9 series. The problem is that you have to realize that you cannot compare the technologies of two sci fi universes directly. This is because there is usual no common ground to based your oppinion in, except for reality which has it's own set of problems. So, cut down on trying to install Trek Tech in to WC.

Being a Star Trek fan is sort of nice -- it's an enjoyable series, and despite the stereotypes there are a lot of good people to share your passion with...

I'm a WingNut, though, through and through.

As for comparing technologies -- if you do it here, you'll get kicked in the face -- but SpaceBattles (http://www.spacebattles.com) has a message board specifically for the subject... it's fun.

yeah it's to bad about that whole trekkie fan geek stereotype thing. Some idiots refuse to watch the series for fear of being labeled a trekkie. Funny how the biggest geeks always seem to be the ones worrying about looking like a geek :D .

Hmm, personally I'm willing to give ST movies a chance when I get my hands on one, but I've yet to see one which I would actually consider good. ST is... odd. I mean, since when does a deformed face a different species make? And then of course there's Insurrection. They look exactly like humans... but they're not humans! What, did they have so tiny a budget that they couldn't pay for some sort of costumes? Or was it just because of the extremely tacky Picard-falls-in-love-with-a-memember-of-another-species storyline?

Oh, I don't think you can blame the aliens on the director - he was just continuing the grand ST tradition.

I never really had any problem with the human aliens, actually I think they tried to explain it before. It was something about a race that sort of fathered most of the current races or something. The thing I always found a little off about star trek was the actual humans. They don't act human, they seem to good and ethical to be humans. It's seems like sort of an overly positive unrealistic, portrayal of humans.

Its supposed to be a time when most of humanity is above superficiality and greed where they can spend their time pursuing interests and living a happy life doing what you love because you dont have to worry about feeding yourself or surviving. There wasnt a problem with almost every alien in the original series being human.

And that's exactly what seems so far off. People are greedy, it's not just a matter of survival, the more a person has the more they want, be it material things or power. In ST there are rarely any conflicts of interest and the only time religion ever stirs up a conflict is when it's an aliens religion also the only time greed tends to pop up is when it's an alien. The only fault humans still seem to show is bigotry.

Yes it would be wonderful if someday greed was practically wiped out from humanity, why stop there why not get rid of the bigotry as well? It still doesn't explain the lack of religious differences.

Well there are a couple of possibilities.

The first one, and one i dont particurally like, is that religion is almost gone by then.

The second is that everyone can, oh my gosh!, respect each others beliefs and worship together in harmony!

Seems odd bigotry and hatred would still exist if everyone could respect each others beliefs. If you could except what they belive in why wouldn't you be able to except them?
