How ANNOYING did you find the fact...

Well, that's what Navpoint says...

Of course, Black Lance is TC's favourite site, so it explains a lot of things on its contents... ;)

NavPoint doesn't belong to blacklance.org. It was actually around before blacklance.org was. We just host it for Locke.

Ah d'accord... indeed it seemed weird that in the Black Lance links page, NavPoint wasn't included...

In fact... it's quite easy to tell that we host it... since it's in the nice little pull down menu labelled 'Hosted Sites'!

TC

The "Hosted site" pull down menu gives "Locke's place", which then in turn gives a link to NavPoint... hence there is no *direct* link to NavPoint...

This is not for the sake of argument, it's because someone who just wants to access the NavPoint database, has to know that its creator/webmaster is Locke... :)

I read on Black Lance's Navpoint that the actual armor of the Tiger's Claw (in the game, not on Joan's Fighting Spacecraft) is only TWICE as thick as that of a Drayman!!! Is this true?
False. The Drayman's and the 'Claw's armour values are the same in the game as they are in the manual. Shields are slightly different, though - the Drayman has 12/12 in-game, whereas the 'Claw has 29.9/29.9.

i remember the claw firing but not that often ill admit,

as regards joysticks, i am a better pilot with the keyboard (not for precision though)

Has locke left the scene?
honestly this ridiculous loss of excellent programmers from the scene is just destroying the chances of mods such as invasion or new games like vegastrike ever coming to fruitition.

Oh ok...

I wonder then where Locke got that idea from... :)

But... Invasion and Vega Strike already have working demos.

(Vega Strike, I note, is not new... it's one of the oldest fan projects.)

'Cuz Wing Commander isn't hip anymore.

But I aint bitter, nope!

'Cuz I've got more fingers than there are people who bought StarLancer. :)

Sorry, I was just a bit miffed that HCl (who I readily admit has done a whole lot for us <G>) took down his site entirely and replaced it with a note about how WC had no future <G> I guess letting PopsiclePete mirror it sort of vindicates him, though...

That said, StarLancer sold very, very few copies <G>

StarLancer sold something like 30,000 copies.

WC games sell more than ten times that amount <G> I don't know which was the worst selling (sales data wasn't really available back then like it is now...), but I'd waged a guess that it was either Academy or Privateer.

Actually, I think Academy makes more sense... but you've clearly got a better idea than what I have.

And 30 000? Whoa, that's a tiny number. Guess that really is fewer than the number of fingers you have. :)

Privateer was not a particular success, though... just a cult classic.

30,000 is a *tiny* number... compared to six or seven figure numbers for most of the WCs <G> MS has to sell 500,000 copies of something for it to break even -- a million to make a significant profit.
