Greatest Wing Commander Moments?

Icedagger

Spaceman
I just wondered what people's greatest moments playing Wing Commander games were. I guess I'll start off with a short list of my own (in no particular order):

1)Seeing WC1's amazing graphics for the first time.
2)Blowing up Jazz
3)Using the Mace on the Mandarin starbase
4)Seeing WC Prophecy's amazing graphics for the first time (a bit of a change from the first game)
5)Seeing the video cutscenes on Prophecy
6)I'll think of more later; I'm really not a prop at this game, but I'm sure other people have some cool stuff to say, and I'll add more later.

1-Seeing any winning path cutscene in wc1.
2-winning [just barely] wc1 missions and coming make to base with all your your guns blown off and no missiles.
3-killing any hard bombing run in wc2.
4-Winning the get the datapod mission in wc2.
5-Winning the final mission in wc2.
6-Winning [just barely] some non-story privateer missions. 7- Destroying the seltek drone [especially the first time].
8-Watching wc3's intro for the first time.
9-Finishing wc4 disc1 for the first time.
10-Finishing wc4 for the first time.
11-Finishing wc4 on the crazy setting for the first time.

Memorable but in a different way moments
1- Spirit's death
2-Vagabond's death
3-Angel's death
4-Hobbes turning traitor

My moment is special...

Not wanting to play Wing Commander 3 because I thought it looked stupid. My freind was playing it and MADE me watch the intro movie. From that moment on I was hooked.

My greatest WC moments are:
1. Buying and playing WCII for the first time, and seeing shadow die :(
2. Seeing the intro to wc3
3. Realizing that tolwyn was the bad guy in WCIV
4. Seeing the St. Helens come out of the Jumpoint just in time to save my a**

my worst moments=
1. Angel's death
2. Spirt's death
3. Vagabond's death
4. Hawk's death
5. Flint's death

my real worst moments=
1. Realizing that WCP has worse graphics than WCP
2. Same as above
3. Same as above
4. Same as above

Hmmm, let's see. There are a quite a few of those:

Most satisfying: The moment the votes come in at the end of WC4. All in that one moment, I knew I had prevented a war, saved my friends, stopped Tolwyn's plan, saved billions of lives and prevented Confed from becoming Nazi Germany in sapce.

Saddest moment: Spirit's feath in WC2. I just about broke down and cried when she sacrificed her self by ramming Heaven's Gate starbase.

Most bitter-sweet moment: Watching Kilrah blow up up in WC3. I had just won us the war and saved humanity, but in doing that, I had killed millions of Kilrathi civilians and wiped out the centre of a culture that had lasted thousands of years.

Angriest moment: This would be a tie between seeing Angel executed by Prince Thrakath, and seeing the effects of the Gen-Select attack on the people of Telamon. Both made me long to get my hands on the bastards who had done it and make them pay.

Most frightening moment: Seeing the Intrepid running like hell for the jump point in WC4 with the Vesuvius in hot pursuit, when all of a sudden *another* Vesuvius class ship jumps out in front of us. In that split second before she began firing on the Vesuvius, all I could think of was "Oh, s**t."

Greatest Moments That Affected Me
1. Talking to Iceman about his daughter being rescued in SM2. I still cry when I see that bit.
2. Having that Pewter Planet pinned on my chest. I was damn proud.
3. Seeing the Wing Commander 2 intro talk for the first time. *Wow*.
4. Earning my first new ship in Privateer -- *that* was satisfying.
5. Watching the movie intro at the premiere... I high-five'd Chris Reid after it was done.

*Gasp* loaf's #3 should of been in mine as well, how could I have overlooked such an amazing moment, the words still seem as If I heard them only yesterday "It's true sir, the kilrathi have...." .

I liked it when I was finally cleared of all wrongdoing in the Tiger's Claw incident. Of course, Tolwyn still seemed to hold a grudge. I guess later on I don't mind so much that he doesn't like me, once I realize his true plans.

1- WC1,in the first time I saw a Kilrathi face (in the vidcom)
2- In WC3, when Melek says: "We are surrendering to you, Heart of the Tiger..."
3- In WC4, when the St. Helens Began to fire against the Vesuvius.

Wing Commander II. The whole game was one (long) cool moment. Everything about it was incredible. I remember playing it with the lights turned out, just so it would feel even more like a movie. And when Shadow died... why in hell didn't they give us any support? :(
One of the most memorable moments from WC2, though, was the Bridge scene after you rescue Stingray. It was the first time you got some inkling of respect from Admiral Tolwyn, "and I appreciate that!"

Awww, thanks a lot. Now I feel the need to replay the game, and I don't have the time for it :(.

1 - Privateer (EVERYTHING about it).
2 - Buying a new computer just to play something called WC3.
3 - Privateer
4 - I don´t care what you say, I love WCP. The first time I played it in openGL... WOW.
5 - Have I mentioned Privateer?
6 - Hobbe's beeing a traitor. SOB, I loved that guy...
7 - The WC Movie intro. Took my breath.
8 - Oh yeah, and Privateer.

Yeah, I actually felt kinda bad about blowing up Kilrah. And to think, everyone thought Tolywn was bad in WCIV killing civilians here and there....when you single handedly took out BILLIONS in one shot.

Ok I cannot edit my message anymore but what I meant to say was "Realizing that WCP has worse graphics than WCIV"

Finally finishing Thrakath.

When that jump point opens... Damn! Another supercarrier!... wait... YEAH!!

"This tribunal is now in session..." The cameras, the flashbacks, the screams from the witness stand... "Justice!" Then finally... well, you know. One seriously haunting sequence.

When Tcheky Karyo says, "Commander, I'm not a civilian..." and that torpedo duel, "Give em the broad side Mr Gerald!"

Rhineheart and coming face to face with Sar.

Just some of many many more.

Let's see... my 5 greatest moments in WC.

1) Finally beating the 'escort a ralari' mission in WC 1 (Kurswana 2, I believe). I still maintain that's the toughest mission in any WC.

2) Any successful bombing run in a Saber (I'm an afterburner addict... kept running smack into what I was trying to bomb)

3) Realizing that with the help of the friendly neighborhood fission cannon, Seether's last cinematic takes longer than his last fight.

4) Watching Kilrah shatter into little tiny pieces.

5) Flying through all of Privateer in a Tarsus, just because someone on #wing-commander said it couldn't be done.

And, for the general amusement, the 5 WC moments I'd rather forget.

1) Learning that the WC2 torpedo has something of a blast radius.

2) See point #2 regarding the Saber in the 'greatest' section.

3) Flying between Concordia and a Fraltha exchanging fire.

4) First time in a minefield in WC 1. I think I singlehandedly cleared the field...

5) Learning that landing on afterburner in WC1 just doesn't work.
