Does anyone have any ideas or theories on the construction of the Tarawa? What does she look like, dimensions, etc.
 
I always assumed it was on the cover of the novel. There is a decent picture of it on this page in the CIC. The novel said she was built on a Transport frame and Quatro's favorite character of all time complained early on about the thing being too small.

no it isn't. It is the tarawa, the tarawa just follows the same design style as the confederation dreadnought
 
Bit of a quibble with your assertion, Nap. I don't know what the Tarawa looks like, but she doesn't look like the Concordia. First off, she was built from a transport hull, and she only has one fighter bay, remember? The ship on the cover, while not the Connie, due to the number 12 on her bow instead of 14, is not the Tarawa.
 
Well if it isn't the Tarawa on the cover the ship on it looks nevertheless quite cool :cool: . As well as the Kilrathi fighter.
But it is definetely not the Concordia.

It is a Confederation class dreadnought, though. The coloration is different from the Connie, as well as the ship number, but otherwise the ship on the cover and the Connie have the same configuration.

None of this answers the question about the Tarawa, however.
 
I always assumed the ship on ER's cover was the TCS Confederation (the only other Confederation-class dreadnought we know about aside from the Concordia).

And I always imagined the Tarawa looking like a smaller, scrappier version of the Victory. That's just my opinion, though.
 
I am comparing the Cover of Endrun to my pictures of the Concordia and they are not the same class of ships. From what we can see there is only 1 hangar and the front section that has the 12 on it looks like it was just welded on. I can very much so imagine that to be a transport with a few weapons bolted on. And the tarawa was 8 not 14
 
The cover is supposed to be an escort carrier -- but it's not the Tarawa (and it's definately not the Concordia or the Confederation...).
 
well if the pic in the front is an escort carrier, then we can assume since the Tarawa is of the same class that that is what it looks like
 
Heavy quad barreled neutron gun on the bow, two mass driver cannons of medium caliber on both sides of the aproach deck, plus few more guns and missile launchers near the deck. She carries around 40 fighters (42 IIRC), and she can cruise at a cool 247kps.
 
Just to add to what EW said, she had several extra mass drivers added when she was attempting to escape from Kilrah
 
No they captured a kat base and as she was running, they used EVa suits to just weld the guns and controls on the outside.
 
They simply welded some turrets onto the hull... the crews that operated them had to go EVA ("outside") in order to get to those turrets. They cut out those turrets from a Kilrathi orbital base, and they got 6 of them.
 
Then, after that, they used Duckt tape to adhere the turrets to the hull!:)


If I remember correctly, wasn't there more than one Tarawa?
