Actually, I'd go with the WCATV Tiger's Claw too, if just looks nicer on than the blocky pixellated original. :)
Well see! At least they took the original shape from WC1, they did not change it completely like for the movie!
The movie Claw looks cool too, though! :)

But you also have to remember that the ship from WCM was the Tiger Claw, not the Tiger's Claw. SO, the probably did that so that they could change up the design alot.

1) I................am always right.
2) If you have to disagree with anything I say, refer to rule #1

Thank you, thank you. thank you all!;)

I played WC2 first... but you only see the 'Claw once, so that hardly counts. :)

I still can't appreciate the WCM submarines in space, but that's just me. And don't take that as me saying I don't like the movie - I do like it... in a different sort of way to the games.

It was called the Tiger Claw apparently because of a typo :)eek:), hence the sub is still supposed to be the Tiger's Claw.

I personally don't see the sub in space bit... it's rounded like a sumbarine... but submarines don't have flight decks... or broadsides...

Well I personally couldn't stand any of the movie ships but yeah :D
I'd also have to go with the WC1 version of the good old Claw, so powerful, so sleek!
Although, I've never seen WCATV, anyone out there know if it's kicking around the 'net anywhere? If so where can I catch a peek? :)

Yes, but subs have torpedos. As opposed to flak guns and laser turrets, like in the games. The "stealth" part was obviously influenced by movies like Das Boot (and I can also see many similarities between it and the more recent U-571). And you gotta admit, they really downplayed the fighters in the movie.

Yeah, they did too, didn't they? How many actual fighter battles were there? I haven't seen the movie many times yet, but I can only recall the skrimish with the CommCon and the one where Paladin blows up one of the capships. But then again, it probably was in an era when the capships' battle role were more important and effective than the fighters.

Subs do have torpedoes... but not massive broadsides of torpedoes like the Tiger's Claw did.

I don't know about fighters being downplayed -- they had a reletively important role (Maniac's landing scene, the CommCon recon mission, defending the TIger's Claw, escorting the Dilligent, blowing up the Skipper/saving Earth).

Not necessarily the fighters' role, but the battle scenes. IIRC, they were mostly capship battles. Of course, capship battles are usually more interesting in a movie... but then again, it was all about the fighters in Return of the Jedi.

True - but the Tiger Claw still fired torpedos. Her design reminds me somewhat of a "18th century battleships in space" game I saw at my local hobby store.

As for the fighters, a good deal of people here seem to wish that Origin made it obvious the Tiger Claw had more than 12 fighters - I'm quoting from memory here.

Every time I watch that movie I just wait for a seam to pop, or a rivet to go shooting out of the framework and water to come pouring into the Claw. Every time it gets hit it reminds me of a damn sub. Every time I see it all I think is sub. Even the way they couldn't make any noise or they'd get picked up on radar.
I feel that it's too much like a Sub movie and not enough like the Star Wars sagas, or Star Trek. Two space combat series that were both VERY HIGHLY EXTREMELY sucessful.
It just frustrates me is all... :)
