What's your favorite game engine?

The inverse square law says that If I shine a light at a wall that is 10 meters away the light will have a brightness of X. If I move that light 1/2 the distance to the wall making the distance between the light and the wall now 5 meters the light will have a brightness of 4x. Do you see what I mean?

We know Confed *didn't* stop making them, because they show up in several places later:) Corvettes are often mentioned in the novels, one is seen in the movie fleet schematic -- and one plays an active in *Prophecy*.

I don't believe we even see the Confed frigate which is mentioned in the manual in the actual game...

As to the cost, how can you possibly think that a frigate which has the length of 620 meters and mass of 28,000 tons could be cheaper than a little 110 meter long corvette that has a mass of 5,500 tons?

That doesn't make sense... Broadswords are bombers with short range, meanwhile, the Johnny Greene from ER was in space for 2 years without much refiting, all of the repairs being done by the crew using parts picked of the wreckage from Kilrathi ships. Corvettes were, and are being made because they're a cheap answer to a destroyer which would be to valuable to place in some backwater systems, or assign as escorts to smaller capships of not much importance, and thinking that a bomber could replace them is crazy.

and Confed simply stopped making them (at least new ones) for a while.
In any of the games or novels have we been ever told that Confed stopped producing corvettes? I think not....

EW: I made that statement based on comparative firepower, and yes I believe that we see the Caernevoron Frigate in WC3 and if not it is seen in WC4 with the same turret load out.

Amd I still don't belive that we do...:) Anyhow, so what if the WC4 frigate has the same lodaut as the WC3 one? It doesn't make it weaker than the Kilrathi corvette...

Good point on the range - although I stated the Venture seemed like a Broadsword with a toilet and a bunk..I am mostly talking about combat ability.

The main story of the first part of End Run shows the Confederation giving little consideration to the corvettes it requisitioned to backwater areas (maybe they sent them to Vukar Tag to get rid of them - ok, that was a -really- bad joke). As it stands, corvettes should be a ubiquitous craft, but in WC2 and WC3, they were not (even though the Kilrathi had corvettes in both games), and I'm just making a supposition.

I would like to place a quote out of WCIV here:

"all terran fighters have toilets. just read wc4.123106"

"Master_Anarchist," "Yes iCe ?"

"SHUT UP !"

The Venture-class fulfills many useful niches. For one thing, it appears to be used a lot by the Diplomatic Corps (the TCS Trygve Lie, TCS U Thant, and TCS Javier Perez de Cuellar which we ran into during SM2 all belonged to the Diplomatic Corps... the other Venture we met, the TCS Marciano might have also belonged to them, but I don't remember for sure).

Amusing, but we must note that all Confederation fighters do *not* have toilets, according to Fleet Action.

To note, although listed as Ventures on your briefing map, the Trygve Lie, U Thant and Perez de Cullier are Exeters in the actual game.

Well, you always say that the ship that attacks the Concordia at the end of SO2 is a Kamekh because Angel says so, in spite of the fact that we see a Fralthra. Also, note that later on in SM2 we see the TCS Austin, and it too is an Exeter, in spite of the fact that it's not :).

So, which will it be? Is the Austin an Exeter, or are those three ships Ventures? Because you've got to be consistent...

BTW, How come the Bugs and the Kilrathi have almost the same caps ships class ? "Corvettes"

Kameck for Kilrathi
Barracuda for Nephilim

And the Confed don't have those. Maybe Origin should get rid of these ships in the Bugs side for another Wing Commander ?

They have had Corvettes. And for the bugs and cats, its the Confed designation for the class and capabilities of that kind of ship.
