Ah, my mistake. I just reread the post.

What your saying here is pretty well thought out, but your missing one thing, it seems to me your basing most of your statement on ship building techniques of today, but when you talk about Engines carrying all that weight, dont forget, these ships fly in space, there is no gravity so weight would be irrelevant to the mix, also ther is little friction in space so all the massive engine would have to do is give off one pulse and the ship would go into a free fall movement and the engines wouldnt be needed again accept to alter course.Haesslich said:Actually, the vulnerable sections aren't probably going to see as much armor, if only because that increases ship's mass substantially - and in a cruiser or destroyer, mass means you're either going to need even bigger (and more expensive, plus more easily targeted and destroyed) engines to carry all that weight, or you give up armor or weapons. It's a lot less damaging to hit a solid durasteel beam, versus crew compartments or weapons storage spaces, even if there's some armor there.
I doubt that the ship design would be just 'a few corridors',if only because they need space to store crew, engines, food, torpedoes, missiles, life-support systems, extra repair parts....

Anyway, back on track. For another Plunkett, that'd be the best option to hit. (can't come about to strike the engines, so just remove them and pick the opponent apart at your leisure) For a wing of fighters... knocking out the bridge and engines would be better.

Too bad there aren't more missions like that in WC 3. Engine limitations, I guess.
