Favorite ship?

Loved to take out:

WC1: Dralthi (of course)
WC2: Drakhri and Strakha
WC3: Dralthi IV
WC4: Thunderbolt
WCP: Stingray
SOPS: Stingray

Feared enemies:

WC1: Gratha and Hhriss
WC2: Gothri! in regular WC2 I guess the Grikath
WC3: Corvettes. And the Paktahn is not too easy as well
WC4: Arrow
WCP: Squid (It's so annoying when they boost out of range)
SOPS: Squid

I liked bombing the stations in WC IV. The Explosion starting from one side looked so good.

And the Dragons where definitely awesome fighters. They have all goodies from the older ships in one. Good shields, strong weapons, cloaking device, jump engine...

Shooting down bombers in WC is quite fun, yes. In some other games (eg Starlancer) you had to have a major panic attack whenever a bomber showed up, because you just *knew* the capital ship you were trying to defend was about to get showered with torpedoes.

Best, Raptor

Specially in the 24th mission, when the Pukov launch almost 6 Kamov with the Cloacking device... 6*4=24 torp to hunt.
That is a happy hunting mission, and you can´t see the bombers in the radar only a blue sillouete

If a bomber bothers me, I ram it after I damage her and knock the sheilds down. Am I alone in this? :)

No you're not, when all else fails, RAM!

The best defense against the Pakthan's tailgun was definitely a good offense. I usually picked the Thunderbolt, so the mass driver didn't worry too much, especially seeing as it only took a few salvos from the T-Bolt's forward guns to nail the Pakthan.

Gimme an arrow anyday and ill show you you dont need a TBolt to do the job, I love the arrow, its so nimble, you can run circles around those bombers, so you're never in their gun sights, all you need to do, is maneuver along the sides, realll close, then you let your guns rip, arrow has fast gun shots IIRC. It's not too hard.

or you just take an excal and let the auto track do the talking, kilrathi ships got the most guns, but the worst gunners

Of course by the time you were in position to take out one Pakthan, the others were too far away to effectively take out in a T-Bolt. Give me an Arrow or even a Hellcat against those things and I'll fly rings around them. But in all fairness to the T-Bolt, load it up with DFs and it's death on Vaktoth.

The T-bolt can catch just about any ship in WC3 with a little judicious use of the afterburners, along with a few missiles and the head-on passes that its firepower and shields allow. I've flown the T-bolt against Bloodmist and his squadron on the nightmare level, and never had any trouble saving the station.

I play most of the game in a T-bolt. Right up until i get the Excalibur or need to fly something else like a Longbow for a bombing mission.

Power over finesse? I've always preferred the agile fast ships myself, even if some of them are armed with little more than toothpicks:)

I found the Tbolt a bit sluggish.. myself i flew most of the time in arrows or hellcat V's, even if i hate hellcats they sure are more nimble than a Tbolt, but when the Excal came out, well.. nuf said :)

Isen't it funny that the excal gets shipped to the victory first hand when it's at the bottom of the list for replacement parts? hehe

The Excaliburs were shipped to the TCS EAgle first, and when it was damaged in the attempt to get to Kilrah, they were traded to the Victory for her Thuderbolts:)

I beleive strongly in the power over finesse, as I have no finesse. Straight line flying for me. I hate Arrows, like Hellcats only slightly more, T-bolts and Longbows are nice.

It is pretty annoying when your in a Longbow and some little POS fighter outruns you an nibbles on your ankle. That's where your escort comes in :)

I hate longbows with a pasion. they couldnt turn 180 if their lives depended on it. I dunno, thats just me, but i remember flying a hellcat V once, and i was very badly damaged, it took me an hour to finish the mission, cause i was in chase camera dodging enemy fire (dralthis, as humiliating as it is to admit) Having a longbow i woulda been cat food.

That doesnt say much about you, not being able to handle Dralthi in a Hellcat. Its by no means a useless fighter.

IMO the Thuunderbolt is the best ship of WC3 aside of the excal. Nice armor and shiel, good payload, better guns and an average speed and AB

Hello from a plebe. My favorite ship in WCP and SO is a skate, just as the last one is about to hook up ... I have this mental image of "{untranslatable}" being buggish for "Dangnabbit!" Least favorite is chasing around a devil ray.

WC4 ... Excaliburs are fun targets because their armor is made entirely of rice paper. OTOH, I really didn't like taking out the Vesuvius. Sure, Tolwyn's bad ... but most of the folks on that ship were just ordinary ConFed pilots and techs, doing their job. How many Catscratches were on that ship?

WC3 ... No particular favorite, although is it my imagination, or does Thrakhath's ship look like it's giving you the finger? Least fave: corvettes. They're everywhere, and even when you take out all the turrets, get behind 'em and just wail, they still take forever to blow up.

Privateer ... Anything that's not a Talon, if you catch my drift. I used to have fun with predit, equipping my ship with multiple Steltek guns. Hey, after you've gone through both plots and earned a gazillion credits, you gotta do _something_ to keep yourself entertained.

WC2 and back ... it's been too long, I can't remember. I do remember the cats had at least one ship that was all guns ... one chicken run on that and you were dead meat. I hated those!

Honorable mention, any game ... I occasionally like to go berserk and waste Maniac. Particularly in the pre-WC3 games, he was _so_ obnoxious...
