Black Lance Carrier

well.. yes the hades was a cruiser, it is also more heavily armed than the tigers claw, i'm sure the reactors to give power to those weapons are quite big.

It just struck me... If LOAF came in here and said the BL carrier was three feet long, everyone would accept his data as the word of god immediately and without question... Unbelievers are dragged into the street and shot *lol*

Sick... No one man should have power over so many... *leans over the railing in dramatic fashion*

I think that the Black Lance Carrier is actually pretty small. Smaller than the BL Transport (which looks to be slightly shorter than the Intrepid). At least that's the idea I get from viewing the 3DS files of the ships and setting the viewable distances the same.
I'd like to know the story of why the carrier was replaced by the transport. The transport seems like a last minute change because the two times the transport shows up in the game its taget status thingy shows a picture of the carrier.
 
I guess they figured that leeching a BL carrier with one fighter was tossing the übermensch myth into the bin... A transport, well we all remember the Drayman with fond memories ("That lousy piece of... AARGH, hold together!!!")... But either way, I think that the BL carrier has to be small, the engine complex, intakes, hangar bay, would all be HUGE if the ship was larger than the Lex...

In this instance, I'm not talking about the BL carrier...I'm talking about the Dragon/Lance textures, which are indeed listed in the downloadable ZIP files as lancex.tga, where x is a number for the various files.
 
Hm...just looking at the one front views of both models, it does look like the Concordia is much larger than the BL Carrier. That isn't really accurate nor is it definate. Just visually the BL Carrier's flight deck looks smaller.

About the Dragon/Lance situation, I called it "Dragon" for the longest time. But now I think that "Lance" or "Black Lance" as the novel called it is the "official" name for the fighter and "Dragon" is what everybody calls it.

Look for the BL Carrier featured in the addon to the WC Invasion mod "Quest for Vengance", which will be coming out after the core Invasion mod.
 
Im for whatever name it is called by the official data. Just seems weird how the games say one thing, then the print materials say something else. Without those printed materials, how is one to know what is correct? Had it not been for dedicated people like LOAF and the CIC, the correct information may have been lost forever! In the back of my mind, it is a Dragon fighter, but whatever the official name is, Lance isnt such a bad name either. I was just going by the games since those were the first things to find out info on this stuff. I do need to get that Confed handbook! A hunting I will go, a hunting I will go...

The ship you leech in WC4 to get the Dragon/Lance fighters is clearly the transport, right? And the capship that follows you out of Axius is the transport too? I never paid much attention to that one - getting back to the Intrepid and saving the game was top priority. :) But it makes more sense to me if the carrier was used in that pursuit - the transport was simply too easy to zorch.

Actually, the Confed Handbook is only about stuff from the movie. Sure, they have info on a couple other WC1 era fighters but that's about it. Still a nice peice to have, though. The deck plan thing of the Claw is cool, even if it is the crappy movier Claw.
 
I'd love to see the BL carrier in a future game. Not nessasarily as a BL carrier, of course. ;)
 
Hmm, no, it does have a certain charm... certainly is a very mean-looking beast, and what more can you ask for from a carrier? :)

Towlyn knew it, Kruger knew it... I demand to see Sparks and Pliers mudwrestle over who gets to install the cloak in my fighter *lol*

But seriously, if the BL carrier is as small as we seem to be suggesting, it might actually prove to be a bit of a drag... it looks mean, but mean doesn't cut it if You're smaller than the Victory...
 
The BL carrier *looks* small... with so few turrets and such, it looks like an escort carrier (a la TCS Eagle). I can measure it's exact length when I get home...

having read the novel i came to the conclusion that the fighter is not called a dragon, but rather a lance
 
Well for me personally on both matters:

Dragon vs Lance- I say Dragon
BL carrier- It does look mean and i've played SO with swapping the barracuda with it and it does look about if not as big as teh BL transpot and to say that it is smaller than the intrepid is rediculous! But overall i like it. And would even go as far as to say that someone should make a movie with it included in it!
