    Privateer and the SB AWE64

Yes, I do have a joystick hooked up, and yes, I did run the Install program while I'm in Real-DOS, not Windows and in c:\privater. My email address is ethanpd@hotmail.com. I hope the patch files aren't bigger than 1 MB, otherwise Hotmail might not give them to me. Thank you.

    Privateer and the SB AWE64

Sorry Faust, the bootdisk didn't work either. Actually, my SB AWE64 Gold is an ISA card, not PCI, so the SB16 Emulation Driver on the bootdisk didn't work. I just loaded CTCM and AWEUTIL /EM:GM afterward, but I got the same result as before.

Privateer in Windows (not the same error)

Yes, I have. Check out this thread for what I've done so far, with trying to get this to work in DOS. http://www.crius.net/zone/showthread.php?threadid=4916

Privateer in Windows (not the same error)

LOL! I know; EMS is not something to chuck. I just wanted to get my AWE64's MPU-401 to work with Priv1, instead of using the AdLib/SoundBlaster synthesized music. I was just looking at all my options, even the most unlikely.

    Privateer and the SB AWE64

Yeah, I guessed that getting P1 to work in Windows was a lost cause. I just thought it might be worth another try. Anyway, with this thread, yes, I've been working with this in "Real-DOS." Instead of a bootdisk, I just changed my AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS in drive C: to what you saw...

Privateer in Windows (not the same error)

As to my previous thread, I've been trying to get Privateer to work with my Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold. Since my AWE64 seems to work better in Windows 98 than in DOS, I tried to see what I could do to get Privateer to work in a DOS box. Of course, it gave me this familiar error message...

    Privateer and the SB AWE64

Yes, it's a Privateer problem again... Not too long ago, I got a Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold and a Roland LAPC-I for my computer and I've been fishing through my older games playing them mostly to hear the difference in sound using General MIDI, instead of AdLib. Privateer has been giving me...

    Xanmovie

Well, I found Jason Yenawine, writer of the Xanmovie Player. It seemed that he went the way of Chris Roberts to Digital Anvil. So, I talked to him and got all the info I could from him about Xanmovie. Here's our e-mail conversation. ------------------------------------------- -----Original...

    Privateer (again?) and music.

Yes, my drivers are up to date. The reason why General MIDI on my AWE is set to 300, instead of 330, is because I also have a LAPC-I (MT-32 compatible) card, and almost all the games I use it for, default to 330 for the LAPC-I.

    Privateer (again?) and music.

Nope, 16 MB of Expanded Memory didn't make a difference. However, I've heard a couple of interesting things. First, I tried Lucasarts Tie Fighter in DOS. With AWE32 MIDI (620) it worked great, but with General MIDI (300) it crashed again. I'm wondering if there's a pattern here ... Second...

    Don't look....

I'm surprised that at the end you didn't have just one more after #150, so the person would rip whatever hair was left on their heads.

Well, I got my reply. "Returned mail: message undeliverable." Back to the old drawing board.

    Xanmovie

Well, it looks like my hunting is half paid off. I found his e-mail address. I have just barely sent a message to him, asking if he had any information on Xanmovie, if he could give it to me, AND if I could post it here. Now all I can do is wait for a reply.

    Privateer (again?) and music.

But then, why would it work fine if I set the music to Adlib? Or when I use my LAPC-I, except that I have problems with the music?

    Privateer (again?) and music.

DEVICEHIGH=e:\windows\emm386.exe ram I'm don't think that's a problem, though. I've run MEM and it says I've got almost 64 megs of Expanded Memory. I've also fiddled around with my configuration and found that Privateer will also crash if there's no General MIDI device whatsoever. It seems...

    Xanmovie

Thanks, Stinger. I looked up Jason Yenawine on the Internet and it looks like he helped make Wing Commander III and IV, as well as some of their patches. Do you have any idea if he even works for Origin anymore or where we could find him?

    Xanmovie

Hey Stinger, I already tried -no_interlace, and I had no such luck. However, I do remember looking through the properties and seeing a few interesting things. For one thing, it said that the name was actually "Happy Movie Player." Weird. It also said who made the program, but I can't...

    Privateer (again?) and music.

Hey Stinger, AWEUTIL /EM:GM is what I have been using with CTCM loaded first, but it's with this that Privateer crashes for some reason. I also can't get other DOS games to work with this. And I wish Privateer natively supported the MT-32. This is the System Requirements for Privateer...

    Privateer (again?) and music.

I've gotten tired of the old AdLib music, and I'm trying (again) to get General MIDI to work. I have a SB AWE 64 Gold (almost like the SB Live), and its DOS AWEUTIL program is giving me fits. I also have an old LAPC-I (an MT-32 compatible sound card), which gives me some conflicts with it. If...

    Xanmovie

I'm probably beating a dead subject here, but I'd like to know more about Xanmovie. I have it from No Regret, so that's not a problem, I'm just wondering about any options. For instance, the video is always interlaced, but if you integrate xanlib.dll into system.ini, it comes out...
