For the record, the DOS version of WCIV plays perfectly fine in Win9x.

On the DOS version, I found that the game would sometimes crash when I entered the actual game sections. And everything was abit jerky. The patch cleared it up though.
But this is on WinME aka Windows anti Wing Commander edition.
WC4 (and the KS Windows versions of 1, 2 and 3 too btw) will work on Windows 95, 98(SE), ME and XP. They will not work on Windows NT4 or 2000.Originally posted by Wulf
Well, I have 98...so will it still work? If so, where can I find a link to the patch?
I've never even had to do that. Installed the game from within Windows, set up a shortcut to the executable, and away I went, no troubles. Played right in Windows, no reboot, no special start-up files. Ran great on my ol' P133 with 64Mb RAM, as well as my PII450/256Mb, before I went to Win2K.Originally posted by Preacher
Yep, just hafta make a few mod'ns to the shortcut for it. Dass all...

works fine for me!
] and wc:academy. I always wondered why academy seems to be the only wc game that would always run [properly]. Priv needs dos, armada needs dos, wcIV goes nuts. WcIII needs dos, and goes nuts. WcII So1 So2 work ocasionally but generally give out funny errors . Prophecy & SO & the Prophecy test have nasty crashes. Yet WC:Academy has run on every computer I've used.
