unknown WC4 scene

I had to *borrow* WC4 without the manuals for my first experience. Although, I saw the Freedom Flight excerpt mentioned in the WC2 manual contents, but it was never printed in my version. :( I had always assumed that the novels tied in as closely to the games as possible. Such naivette...

Enlighten me, LOAF... :)
Is the novel excerpt the same as the corresponding section in the novel?
Because I seem to remember (although my memory might be playing with me) that in the WC IV handbook excerpt, Hellcats are guarding the transports, instead of Arrows... I know in the game it's definitely Arrows but... :)

In the game, Hellcats are definitely escorting the transport. In the novel excerpt, Maniac is very surly towards his 'old friend'.

The game starts with Hellcats. The situation at the start of the novel is a completely different convoy -- when first written, it had Hellcats... but when published, they'd been changed to Arrows, to avoid people thinking that it was the *same* convoy attack as WCIV begins with...

... but that didn't work.

AHA!! So I remember correctly!! The excerpt and the final version of the novel are not the same... so much for consistency... ;)

Ok!! Ok!! I won't start, LOAF... :D

And there are more things different in the novel, just by now I remember the scene where Seether kills Paulson, which is more "bloody" than the one in the game...
Still the german version is even less bloody, I know because I have both versions and realized it immediately when I saw the cutscene of the english version for the first time.
Pretty funny was that when I ripped the german movies, I saw that *both* versions of that scene are in the german movie file, but only the *kids* version of it is shown in the game...

Germans always do that... cut out to violent scenes. Last Saterday a bought a six pack of 6 race games... Yeah, Carmageddon ! NOT !!! German version... What's the fun of killing zombies ?

The same as killing Cyborgs in C&C...none.
It is so ridiculous what the Germans do with the games and movies...

Very lame, very very lame, indeed.

And what is even more lame: in the manual they painted a black censoring stripe over the soldier's eyes. So ridiculous. They coloured the blood black (it's now oil  ) and omitted the screams from the game.
In C&C Red Alert they cut the scene from the intro, where Hitler appears, out. It is so ridiculous.

To be fair, that might have also been Westwood trying to think ahead how to avoid trouble. Had they not converted the people to cyborgs (why cyborgs, come to think of it? Cyborgs are living creatures too), they would have gotten a higher rating, which would have undoubtedly affected sales - and who the hell wants to lose the teenagers' market segment?

On the whole, I don't think your censoring authority is to blame. If they were, then you'd only have a grand total of five games being sold in Germany, and those games would all be non-violent Tetris clones :).

Cyborgs can bleed oil too, blood isn't necessarily the only way to transmit oxygen, nourishment, whatever, through a system. Just because it's the only way we know of doesn't mean it's all there is.

This is the first time I've heard anybody call them cyborgs, though... generally, when talking about the German C&C, you hear about robots <G>

But the mere presence of this institution makes the game publishers censor their games. And for that I hate the BPjS.

Just out of curiousity... why do you care that the stupid looking little things that look like little people look like little robots instead? Does it really matter?

Ok, but not hearing them scream when they die is annoying... :)

And it's about principles, TC, principles... ;)
