Top 3 anime

I don't really have any sort of issue with 'cosplay' (though the fact that they have to invent inane terminology for making costumes is indicitive of my larger point)... it's just that my experience with anime fandom is that there's very little shift in maturity between the internet and real life.

Everyones an asshole on the internet, in every community... but when Star Trek and Star Wars and starwhatever fans get together, they're genuinely nice people. When anime fans get together, they actually seriously discuss things like why companies should be shut down for daring to dub anime.

And yet we've all seen the pics of people from this website dressed in flight suits. ;)

Because flight suits is pretty much within the limits of common decency. But for anime freaks . . . do you really want to see some fat ho (or man) dress up in a Sailor Moon costume, or even . . . worse? And I define 'worse' in this case as tentacle porn/hentai

Skyfire I would have to agree with the Lodoss Wars. lol

Record of Lodoss Wars
Macross (Robotech)
Macross II (just cause of the animation) same with Macross Plus.

Record of the Lodoss Wars has to be my favorite of all time though lol, it is like the Lord of the Rings of Anime. I like how Macross (Robotech) has stuck around, it is OLD, like made in the early eighties and late seventies, but it is still sweet, especially the animated movie af Macross (or the horrible american adaptation for younger robotech audiences, Clash of the Bioniods..ICK) the animation is sweet.

Oh and Record of the Lodoss wars does have somethign that we actually use in roleplaying games. Unless you are a mage you can't wear a cloak until you are badass lol, Parn did not wear a cloak till the final few episodes when he became badass, but Kashue, Beld, Fahn, and the one of the greatest anime villians (and not even that) Ashram.

I do have to agree about the first part being the best....after they rewrote the series after the third tape....changing the whole history to favor Spark as the hero instead of Parn was kinda weak....though Parn was pretty cool in them. And I do like the fact they hashed out more of Ashram and Orson...but that movie seemed to be kinda a fan boy remake lol.

Oh and I remember reading somewhere that Anime style (the big eyes and stuff was a nod to disney) and in all actuality american movie animation (disney, pixar, etc.) is actually superior in some ways do to the amount of Frames...they use more per second than anime....though american films cost about 10x as much as Japanese ones lol.

Most anime I've ever seen is entirely obnoxious. I actually got into Dragonball Z for awhile. I liked the first three seasons. Then after that I just sort of lost interest in it. My favorite anime that I can think of are the movies by Miyazaki. Especially, I like

1. Princess Mononoke
2. Spirited Away
3. I suppose Akira. Though it's a tad overrated I think. I just always watch it for that scene where he expands with veins and wires and it's all freaky!

Oh wait, and Grave of the Fireflies was pretty good too.

Let's see...

1. Escaflowne
2. Samurai X
3. Princess Mononoke

I tried to watch Record of Lodoss War...but it sucked sooo badly! The animation was poor, the story was weak, and the voice acting grated on me.

I'm going to disagree there, but to each his own. I don't do it, so I'm not involved with that in any way, shape or form, so it's all the same to me.

 There's a picture I didn't need before I went to sleep.

Anime characters have big eyes if they are heroes and if they are villians they have smaller, more narrow eyes. I believe this is because that the hero have thier eyes open to their soul or something like that. At least that is what I heard.

The Spawn animated series was good cause it used more frames for second than Anime, but not as much as the super expensive american movies. YOu could definatly see the anime influence on it.

Which Record of the Loddoss war did you watch? THere are three of them, and two of them do suck lol, and dubbing is almost always bad, look at the english version of Ninja Scroll, the subtitled version of that is many times better.

I'm willing to debate this point. Make your peace.

I think that the main reason that Akira got so popular with American audiences in the early '90s was that it made as much (if not more) sense when you were high.

Akria is like Close Encounters Of The Third Kind - it's suppose to be an influential milestone in it's field - but no one really knows why.

Didn't much care for akira, nor the insane fans (that goes for wc fans too ;) stargate fans are all very friendly though). Most of its **** but so is most TV, a slightly higher percentage of anime is worth watching, thats all there is to it.

Gigantor!

Now that was a cartoon... jet powered metal Homer Simpson beating up things like giant snakes with half a frame of animation per second.
