Prologue Released!

Lars,

Try the Saitek ST290. It can be configured for both right- and left-handers. :) It's a pretty good stick, if a basic one.

I prefere the basic ones since I am more used to have all my functions on the keyboard except for firing guns and missiles.
Also the price at about 20 bugs seams pretty good.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I noticed that the prologue suffers from a widescreen bug in the SCP that was already fixed. I has to do with the box around the targeted ship and the lead indicator.

This bug has been fixed in the latest beta releases, you guys should implement that fix, widescreen is the wave of the future :)

thanks!

The game is absolutely awsome.

I downloaded your game a few days ago, and I must say it is absolutely great! For me, this is the best Wing Commander game since WC4.

Wing commander Standoff is good, but it can't compare to this mod.

Thanks a lot you guys, and I am really looking forward to playing the finished game.

cheers.
Nicke

They're both very good games.

They're both very good games.

Agreed. Both have very different styles, and I think that Standoff tends to appeal more to those who cut their teeth on WC's 1 and 2 (obviously, since they targeted their gameplay around WC2).

My first Wing Commander Experience was WC3, so that is probably why I lean towards the Saga game. I guess we just tend to like what we're used to...

Anyways,

@Nicke

You may want to try out some of the custome missions (search this forum for links) as well as the WC3 and WC4 Tech demo's that Tolwyn released a little while back. Also, check out the simulator if you haven't already. The Save Ticonderoga mission was by far my favorite included with the prologue.

I hate widescreen monitors. ;)

Back to the topic - I would not use any post 3.6.9 builds, simply because they introduce a lot of new bugs, that are yet to be fixed.

But can't you compile the fix in the 3.6.9 build you use? It has been done AFAIK. :)
Pretty please? :D

Honestly, you could use a 3.6.10 build, but do not complain about missing thrusters or strangely acting AI. ;)

Well done gentlemen! I just completed the Prologue and really enjoyed it. That was the first time out of all the games that I went through flight training. Very cool. I liked being the rookie and not the hotshot pilot who single handedly saves the day for a change. I also liked that you simulated the tediousness of a milk run. I almost started to sense the boredom and frustration we hear about wing commander pilots feeling on escort missions.. (I was actually disapointed to be jumped by pirates.. I was hoping it would be the first milk run mission in the history of Wing Commander milk run missions that would actually be a milk run!). You did a great job of 'putting me in the cockpit' and immersing me in the missions.

The fiction was also well done. Good models, good missions, good fiction, good job!

~~~, you did a fan-game and I never noticed it until now? (must be my meds)... anyway, I'm busy with paper-models and not much for these higher-quality 3d-games (I prefer the older wc3/4 level 3d quality)... and I don't think I got a ton of drive space for downloading the game... so...
Anyone chance someone can do up a couple-page story walk-through for me? Doesn't have to be word-for-word, maybe just like events and any good jokes and descriptions of any animated cut-scenes?
You know, something I could read through in under 2 hours (but will take more than 5~10 minutes to read).
I would imagine a "couple page" walkthrough of the key events would only take 5-10 minutes to read, and that the entire game's script could easily fit into 2 hours. There is only a prologue demo chapter of this fan project released however. You can get it at https://www.wcnews.com/news/update/7571
Just got Saga a couple of days ago. Blown away. Smoother gameplay than any of the other games. At least at first. As I went throughout the mission, the graphics got choppier. This occurs in both of the first two missions (which are the only ones I've played so far). When fighting the pirates, it got so bad I couldn't even play it. Couldn't really find where others had this problem, but...any suggestions?
Try installing the "asteroid hotfix" included in the installer. It might fix the slow down issue.
