The wormhole in Secret Ops was never finished, that was the whole point, you were supposed to stop the wormhole from being completed. If it was completed, there would not have been enough Terrans to make 2nd and 3rd chapters of Prophecy.Originally posted by Aries

No, that was a race called the Mantu, that came from beyond the Kilrathi's borders. The Mantu wouldn't stand a chance now anyways. In Fleet Action, Thrakkath and the Emperor make the new supercarriers for the idea of ending the war with Confed and to defeat the Mantu. I can't remember who said it but on of the Kilrathi said that the supercarriers were a power even the Mantu would be afraid of.
 
no.... the fleet was never spoken of as a power the mantu would fear... it was spoken of as the empire's last hope to defeat the mantu...
 
hmmm..... bring in the steltek.. make the bugs the ultimate threat to the galaxy... a threat even to the steltek, have them team up with the humans, and KICK SOME BUG ASS!!!

You know a long time ago I thought that would of been such a cool plot. Have the Terrans and Steltek (or Steltec whatever) team up against the bugs.
Or even better have a sequal to Privateer 1 were you meet the Steltek again and team up with them to stop the bugs for the games main plot.

how could the bugs be the ultimate threat in the galaxy when their best stuff you can kill and confed couldn't even scratch the steltek drone that was a couple thousand years old?
 
even though, it still was a good idea (minus the bugs being the super-race). they shoulda brought the steltek back, though with the steltek on our side, the war would be the shortest in history
 
I always got the feeling that the Privateer games and Armada existed off on a different tangent than the traditionally numbered games, almost as if they were in a different canon or something.
 
never played armada, but priv2, yeah that was something different. priv1, i felt that it was just the civilian side of the war, and if you could leave Gemini, you would be able to see the concordia flying around or something. course my first experience with WC was from the priv view, so my perspective on the WC universe might be different than someone who played the confed games then moved to priv

I don't agree about the Privateer games. Well, Privateer 2 was totally seprate but if you look at Privateer 1 theres countless parts esp. with the bartener's conversations about the war with the Kilrathi. Also in the mission computers theres some missions were you end up dealing with the Kithrathi that are posted by confed. Anyways it would be totally weird if Privateer 1 didn't have some of the Kilrathi vs. Confed war in it considering Gemini sector is the fronteer of Confed space. Unlike Privateer 2 were Tri-system was no part of Confed or known space.

Your right thow about the Steltek vs. the bugs and how easy the bugs are compared to the Steltek. But im sure if they acually TRIED they could come up with some plot involving Steltek and the confed and or the privateer guy working togeather. Wich would be soooo COOL! :D
 
To state the over stated and obvious: they should remake the first Privateer. Maybe in the WCP engine. Yeah, the WCP engine....
