Other Confed Held Space?

I was wondering...And I'm sure this has been brought up before even though I can't find much on it.....When looking at the WCNews Map and the Prophecy Map. Which way is towards the Galactic Core? Also when looking at the Western part of the map is there any info on some of the systems west of Sol. What are there purposes? Who inhabits them other than Humans? Is there any mention canon or not?

Are you talking just about the Blue Dots or the Unexplored Planetary Systems as well? I'm not really sure, but Sol has humans on practally every blue dotted system. It could be that humans inhabit the planet. Or have ships in the system.

there was talk of confed keeping it's black op's stuff far behind lines (fleet action) the kilrathi did something similar when they were doing thier hakaga thing far behind their lines.
hard to believe that mankind only really explored tword kilrathi space... wouldn't it be wiser to start exploiting systems to your rear when all your colonies/resourses are being destroyed at the front. Or was there another race out there or were all of those other systems devoid of any worthwile exspansion... Or were resouces so strained during the war that it didn't seem worthwile to chart new systems.

Project Omega. Not so much a superheavy carrier like the Hakaga, but more like a stealth carrier.

Perhaps jumplines? Or it may have been a result of contact with another species. Or a result of how the initial colonization efforts were undertaken.

I think that if you look at the number of systems to the "west" of Sol, and the number of systems to the "east" of Sol, they're fairly the same. This makes sense - naturally Sol should have a circle (sphere) of influence, with Earth in the center, which is roughly what we have.

What you're looking at is the fact that exploration to the "west" stops about the same time/distance it stops from the "east" - which coincidently enough, happens to be around the time we hit first contact with the Kilrathi.

I would submit, therefore, that the Kilrathi conflict was the cause of the stoppage of exploration, and up to that point colonization and expansion was occuring in both directions at the same time.

That sounds reasonable--once the Kilrathi war began, all government funds that were going toward opening up new systems were diverted to the war effort.

In the SOPS fiction LOAF mentioned in another thread there's a passage in which the representatives of Argent and Hawking Sectors are mentioned and at least one of them has a very human name:

Plus, many of those systems are named after famous people like astronauts and me -- I'm sure those were settled by humans. Action Stations does claim that the Confederation includes half a dozen different species -- we just haven't seen who the others are or where they live yet...

That's awesome!!! What quadrant are you in? I want to get a system named after me.....hopefully similar to Pembroke... just Pirates!!!

Yup, I'm in the Shelus Quadrant of the Argent Sector.

For those who weren't around way back when, the map was designed and fought-for by John "Captain Johnny" Guentzel.

A bunch of the CIC staff have systems named after them.

But I was first, even if Origin didn't know it at the time. :D

(in the Farris quadrant of the Gemini sector)

In case it wasn't obvious, I'm joking. The system was named loooong before I took the handle of "Death".

Could 2 of them be the Firekka and those stone age people in WC1?

No, I don't think so -- Action Stations took place many years before the Firekkans joined the Confederation... and Confed was forbidden by its prime directive-style rules from interfering with the Mopoks (the stone-age people.)

And note that by Prophecy and Arena's timeframe (really by WC3), the Firekkans have their own separate space. They were only a part of Confed for about 15 years, but their presence in the *Terran* Confederation for that limited time is a neat thing to see in the games.

We need to see more Firekkans in-game. I've been fond of the giant birds ever since I played SM2 and read the WC2 Deluxe manual.

I can understand why we haven't seen many Steltek so far (they don't really want anyone to find them, and their ships would be extremely unbalanced), but the Firekka are supposed to be a "proud ally of the Confederation".

Go K'kai. :D
