McDonalds has a new bacon cheeseburger

The only time Ive been to Johnny Rockets was at Mohegan Sun Casino and it failed to impress me in the taste and the value department. I really like Wendys if I have to do fast food.

In college i worked evenings at McDonalds. now i'd never eat there again unless there is no other option available. then i choose a salad or a mcchicken.

I'd prefer to look up a local cafeteria, and get a real burger, on a proper plate.
with fries, real mayonaise and a beer.

with one exeption, if i'm in a country where i don't know or don't trust the food,
i'll eat at McDonalds. I used to travel for work a lot three years ago, and i'm not
that big on french, spanish, or the asian kitchen.

mcdonalds does have good fries, but it's nothing compared to the UK's fish and chips, or the belgian fries.

Belgian fries with mayo. Definitely.

One very nice thing - McD's in Europe (but not UK) serve beer. Also I always think in France you get a much nice quarterpounder (I mean Royale). I think they might use real meat. :D

Mcdonalds serve beer in germany, not in the netherlands for instance, this has to do with the image. the target audience in the netherlands is little children and seniors.

the only reason i see to visit a fast-food chain is when travelling through, and not have the time for a proper meal. I also won't eat in there unless i have to, the atmosphere is too fluffy for me.

still, next time i need to be in one, i'll try this burger.

Micky D's outside the U.S. lose thier inexpensive ( read cheap )
draw , you can find better for less . Maybe not as quickly , maybe not
as well known , but better .

Fast food needs to be quick , cheap , and known .

Not necessarily so. When I was in Europe last spring McDonalds easily had some of the best overall prices. In London, for example I paid about 5 pounds for my meal supersized with a drink. Now when you consider that was a $10 meal its certainly expensive for fast food but every other place would charge me 2.5 pounds just for a soft drink (much much smaller in size than the supersized coke at McDs) and would charge me the same amount when I needed a refill, then they would charge me another 5-7 pounds for the hamburger and fries. When I was in Israel in 2000 I paid roughly the same price in shekels as I would here in America. When I was in France it was even better than in London. I'm sure you can get cheaper prices but I'm not sure I'd be willing to take the gamble on the food...

Red Robin has good fries and burgers, good for a national chain. So does Prince's a local chain. Prince's has the best hamburgers.

Maj.Striker , I only have Oslo and Rome to go by ,
and in those two I stand by my statement .
Was it more risky to trust a push cart vender , yes yes yes .
But I decided years ago no use to travel without attemting
to get a taste of the local culture .(with in limits)

Hmm, going kinda off-topic, I guess this is the point where I'm supposed to remind you about checking the 3DO WC3 to see if you can make out the Hellcat's designation number (and screenshots of other 3DO stuff you mentioned, Kilrathi gun platforms and the like... and the WC2 Deluxe box art with court-martial Blair and a Gothri).

Just checked the game - the number still isn't legible. I'll dig out a WC2 Deluxe soon.

McDonnalds has lost a lot of market in Brazil to other fast food chains, they used to have that market cornered.

Not only that, they have *unlimited* fries. And they have dozens of different fancy burger types.

Wow! That alone would sell me (the unlimited fries). I know that Ruby Tuesday's have unlimited fries although that's more of a "sit down" restaurant. If McDonalds introduced unlimited fries, I'd be as wide as a table. :) But happy...

Tell you what, Edfilho. If you're ever in my neighborhood, I'll treat you to something from Taco Bell, your choice. It's the least I can do for an Atleticano.

As to the mustard, not having it must just be a Minas thing (Uai!). They do things quite a bit differently there than they do in other parts of Brazil.

@ LeHah
As far as big fast food places: most of the cities I lived/worked in didn't really have any chain restaurants. When I lived in Belo Horizonte, they had things that you find in the U.S.A. like Pizza Hut and McDonalds, as well as some nice Italian places and lots of good traditional Brazilian places, but in most of the other smaller cities in Minas Gerais it was more like a bunch of corner hamburger stands (which were really quite good, in my opinion) or the ever-famous Brazilian Barbecque churrascarias. Man were those good.

Also, a lot of the time bread stores would serve as fast food for me. They had some pretty nice stuff in there, too, my favorite being "sonhos" which are a sort of baked good somewhat similar to a donut. They had all sorts of breads, some with meat and cheese, some in a sort of pizza mixture, and so forth. It was best when they would fill sonhos with doce de leite (the best English translation I can find for that is caramel, but it really doesn't capture what doce de leite is, and I have never found anything in the U.S.A. that tastes quite like it, though I think they call it dulce de leche here.)

Keep in mind, though, that I spent most of my time in smaller cities and towns like Teofilo Otoni, Sabara, Governador Valadares, Nanuque, and other places you have probably never heard of (people in Minas are kind of considered to be hicks), so this shouldn't be taken as representative of Brazilian fast food as a whole. I'm sure Delance, Eder, Edfilho, and the others can fill you in on what they have in their areas, which is probably much more comprehensive than what I had in my smaller towns.

What are some big name fastfood places in Brazil?

McDonalds
Bob's (named after an american guy, but it's brazilian)
Habib's (arab themed food, but also brazilian)
Girafas

We also have american chains like KFC, but they are not very big.

Yeah, Red Robin's is more of a sit down place too, but You might be able to get takeout.
