Lexington Rejoins the Fleet (June 29, 2011)

The WC Saga team has updated its Lexington design. This latest iteration carries the game's "modern" textures and has some pretty nice lighting on the interior areas. They've taken the "special operations" version seen in Armada and made it a more common heavy carrier. You can read up on the history of ships named Lexington here!

This carrier was first seen in the Super Wing Commander remake on the Sega CD game as an alternate model to the TCS Tiger’s Claw and the rest of the Bengal-class carriers. It is also seen in Wing Commander Armada as the player’s carrier, the TCS Lexington, a self-sustaining carrier that was sent deep behind enemy lines in a high-risk operation.

Yup, Super Wing Commander was for the 3DO and then Macintosh.

I haven't seen this mistake before, although it is pretty common to see people identify Wing Commander for the SNES 'Super Wing Commander', presumably because of that system's goofy tendency to add 'Super' to the name of games (Super Mario Brothers, Super Star Wars, etc.)

Super Mario Brothers is actually for NES ;)
Mario Brothers being the arcade classic.
But yah it is a gooffy trend that they still haven't quite got rid of.

Heh, you're right. Sorry--at the time my parents were adamant that game consoles "rotted your brain" and so I never a Nintendo as a kid.

(... but now I DRIVE the school bus!)
