Info request (timeline)

I dunno, I was thinking of events like the ambush at McAuliffe (or Enyo?). I think Confed would put even a small spin on 'history' for the sake of propaganda.

Action Stations doesn't prove anything in that regard, though - it was written many years after the war was over, so there was no need to cover up anything. On the other hand, we do know that Confed has at least at certain times tried to cover up its military situation, as is heavily implied throughout WC3 (both novel and game) and in SO1.
In the case of the McAuliffe ambush, it would have of course been a necessity to cover the whole thing up (not permanently - by '54, the truth seemed to be partially out, though Claw Marks still downplays the degree to which Confed failed to prepare for the attack). The Kilrathi couldn't be certain exactly how much damage they did to Confed's navy, so giving them the numbers (by broadcasting them in public channels) would have been potentially very dangerous if not suicidal.

I'm curious why your timelines say the BWC happened in 2673. True, Mr. LOAF mentions the prologue occurs in 2672 and then the 2 week unofficial war happens almost a year later in 2673. But to me this doesn't make sense. In the Prophecy manual it says the brief war happened in 2672. I think this should be the correct date.

Origin's WCIV PSX website had a section where you could see the e-mail Captain Eisen got from the Border Worlds before he defected... it was dated 2673.

With regards to the 'McAuliffe incident', one should always realise there are two sides to the story. People who forget that are foolish...they lose perspective, as we see in the present day.

Every major power covers up what they really do, or how they really bungle things. Propaganda exists to this day!

Oh by the way, Loaf with the timeline by product, shouldn't Righteous Fire be 2670? I think that's in the prologue where (what's his name again? Brownhair? Greyhair?) has had his gun stolen and about to get mangled by that mean looking chaingun.

Speaking of which, was that bloke a machine, a man or something out of Doom?

Rightous Fire's intro says "a year later"... it's clearly still in 2669, since the war is still going on.

Is that e-mail posted anywhere we can see it today?

Brownhair

Brownhair... nickname for Grayson Burrows, privateer, according to the Origin official press release regarding the game.

Btw, the names mentioned in the 'Interview with a privateer' has been altered to protect the blablablah whatsoever.

Anyone can guess the name of Grayson Burrows' grandfather?

Machine. "...not some bunch of tin idiots!"

Although, "bloke" is another word for man...

His real name? What for?

Perhaps I should have asked if he was a cyborg. He looked like he had an exposed half brain in glass. Then again I may be wrong, haven't played Privateer in about three years. Such a great game yet so little time. I pay it no respect unfortunately.

For some reason, Edgar springs to mind. Was his great great etc grandmother called Saffron? :D

IIRC he was supposed to be a 3D armored person... (if you look at the model, it's a 3D head inside the bubble) -- I seem to recall Adam or Mark talking on IRC years ago about how there were no human-type robots in WC (circa Prophecy)...

Think of it as a mech or a gundam.

Pretty stupid (and patient) for a person.

I recall we had a bit of a misunderstanding last time we had this discussion, but I distinctly remember agreeing that he was a robot, given that the internal filenames for the guard's speech was labelled ROBOT???.VOC
