HW2 mod

Yes, there are some HW2 mods that are finished. They arent THAT huge, but they do work and are quite fun to play with. EG Defense Field Module, Dynamic Fighters (my favourate).

http://forums.relicnews.com/ - Go to the developers part, Tannis (i think) Shipyards for Homeworld 2 modding and then into Completed Mods. Enjoy! (sorry i cant get a more direct link, my internet is playing up)

yep, those 2 are good, have you tried the Hiigaran Mod adds 2 new interceptor variants, along with a Assault Frigate, and a Light and Advanced Destroyer...

well as for modding hw2
NewCom i dont know if you've had better success than i have, but as for me I'm still using Lightwave right now cause the Maya 3.0 version i got doesn't work(leaving me maya 4.5 with no plugins) anywho I got my venture class ingame - witha few minor problems - Textures are corrupted and the ships polygons are all out of whack so i guess i'm left with below.

i've either gotta do one of two things
1 wait for the RDN tools to come out that WORK WITH Maya 4.5
or
2 get my friend to perfect his little 3rd party tools/or use other 3rd party tools

Right now, ive got a friend downloading me the tools (as she has broadband), but Voidsurfer (the old FA webmaster) and i have been tinkering around with the .ship files... rather intresting things.

Also, i coudnt get that other mod with the escort and the other destroyer to work for some reason... ive tried giving the hiigarans a hyperspace gate, but the file extractor is buggy and doesnt work at all. -_-

newcom i dont know if you use maya or not but the mod tools work with ONLY 3.0
i've been talking to one of my old B5 mod friends Crook and he suggests sticking with what ya know(my case Lightwave and PSP7.0 ) and waiting on the 3rd Party tools to get the bugs hammered out.

hopes that saves ya the headaches i've gone through since the RDN stuff came out, all i've seen it good for is the documentation.

if you dont use Maya 3.0 and Photoshop i'd just say use the 3rd party tools but use the documentation as a tutorial basicly and apply it over to what ya use.

hard - uhmmm just a little bit, but only cause its complex, heh and i thought modding HW1 was complex

but as far as too hard, nope.

just gotta tinker some more to get it working the way i work.

Shes also getting me Maya 3.0... (shhh), but yeah, i do have Photoshop. Doesnt the RND pack contain plugins for HW2 conversions?

yep,

problem is they only work for Maya 3.0

they released the source code so that a 3rd party person could code it for 4.0 - 5.0

if you ask me: I haveb't even tried. I am busy enough to texture another few models for Wing Commander Saga mod ;) Anyway, I remember Starsaint explained to me, that he was unsuccesfull so far in getting a model into HW2 game engine.
