Hello everyone, I'm glad to join this community. I hope it will be a fun ride!


Anyway, I have a question; a very general one. How come I can NEVER find any PC version of any WC game on ebay? Even if I do it's the only one I have, WC 3. I wish to get all the WCs and find out the story and emphasis to it.

Can anyone help out?

Well, I got Kilrathi Saga a few months ago on ebay. That comes with WC1, WC2, and WC3. Wasn't cheap though.

I also saw some WC4's too. Keep checking is my best advice.

Also, check out the " Where to Buy " section on this site. That was helpful for me.
 
Hey, I think there's a couple dozen pc games on ebay.. Which ones are you looking for? What got you into Wing Commander? I'm always curious how people born after like 1985 got into it.

Well, It was my birthday when I turned 8, this was awhile back. My dad bought me an Origin special game pack thing; It came with my favorite games of all time: Shockwave Assault, Crusader No Remorse, and Wing Commander 3. I never really got into Wing Commander until a few year later, I was terrible at it. And I just started playing it again just last year, and I rule at it now!


I want ALL Wing Commander games, except WC3, which I already have.
 
I just happened to be browsing ebay for WC stuff when I came across your post. right now they have a few copies of Prophecy (a gold edition for as much as I paid for the original) a few of WC4 (described as some by the best in the series) and a WC1 and Wc2 combo auction (you would have to have a way of transferring 5.25 to 3.5 inch floppies, ah the good ol days of computing :)). They are out there, you just have to catch them right.

I'm surprised you couldn't find any. When I check, you can pretty much get any game of the series....but check out halfbuy.com, a companion sight where you don't bid. They always have most games from the series. Well, in the words of Hobbes, "Welcome aboard old friend. You're looking fine and fit. Does this war agree with you?"

Can someone post all the titles up here with expansion packs? I already read through the site, and still am confused.

The 'main' games are as follows...

Wing Commander
Wing Commander: The Secret Missions (addon)
The Secret Missions 2: Crusade (addon)
Wing Commander 2: Vengeance of the Kilrathi
Wing Commander 2: Special Operations 1 (addon)
Wing Commander 2: Special Operations 2 (addon)
Wing Commander 3: Heart of the Tiger
Wing Commander 4: The Price of Freedom
Wing Commander: Prophecy
Wing Commander: Secret Ops

If you're trying to play through the games, look for the CD versions of WC and WC2 -- they include all the addons. The 'Gold' edition of Wing Commander Prophecy includes Secret Ops.

There's a spinoff series of Wing Commander games called Privateer. They include:

Wing Commander: Privateer
Privateer: Righteous Fire (addon)
Privateer 2: The Darkening

The CD version of Privateer will include Righteous Fire, and has full speech.

Finally, there have been two WC one-shot spinoffs-

Wing Commander Academy
Wing Commander Armada

On my shopping spree yesterday I managed to pick up WC3 and WC4 for PSX, used.

WC3 was all of $5 and WC4 was $10.

And to test a little theory, I ran them through a PSX emulator on my PC and I managed to play through WC3's simulator in 800x600 at 60fps, with the fullscreen antialiasing of my GeForce4 kicking in. I didn't play through any farther in the game... just a kind of proof of concept thing.

The weird control setup makes it unfeasible to map either game to anything except some kind of PC gamepad, but it will work well enough if you can find a good emulator and have a decent PSX style gamepad.
 
Alright, I found some auctions on ebay with those games. Tell me if these are the right ones. A problem is, some of the auctions don't come with the manuals, which makes me mad, but that's ok.

The WC1 comes with both Secret Mission add-ons, so yes that one is right.

For Wing Commander 2, see if you can find the EA Top Ten Pack CD, since it has WC2 with both Special Operations addons as well as the speech pack... it also comes with some other neat games on it, too. Those two auctions are the deluxe edition which has all the addons for WC2, but I like the other games on the Top Ten Pack, too...

The WC4 is the WC4 DVD version, not CD-ROM...

Prophecy is just Prophecy; not Prophecy Gold... as far as I can tell.

Both Privateers are the CD-ROM classics edition, which should come with the Righteous Fire addon as well as the full speech addon (I know mine did)

if i were you id save up and get kilrathi saga, that game is the bomb plus it plays on my 1.7 ghz computer, under win98 of course
with no problems
had an old compaq but had problems playing some of the games like Privateer tried playing it but kept teling me "failed crc check" whatever that means??
i mustve bought 3 different copies of the game
well, i gave up!
kilrathi saga is also the only game ive seen in the tech support page with the least amount of problems
plus you can download the add-ons for WC1 and WC2 for free
so you have an abundancy of missions to fry those kitties :)

Well it's the same three games but with better compatibility and sound enhancement for WC3.
