Freelancer- No joystick support.

Freelancer already *is* like Daikatana. :)

(And *I* remember back when people said 'Strike Commander' instead of 'Daikatana' when they were referring to such a project... they were *better* days!)

Strike Commander was so worth waiting for... I heard rumors a few years back that SC/Privateer wer going to be released as a Win95 package, like kilrathi Saga, You know? I did cartwheels across my room for like ten minutes before I realized it was a joke... I miss Strike Commander. TO this day EA sims like Fighters Anthology are based on the engine and models it developed...

I have the game and really sucks.... what a poor game, but i expect that Freelancer will be like Privateer with better graphics, more ships and guns, lots of planets and missions, do you know if it will have FMV of some sort ????

I never got what was supposed to set Daikatana "apart"... It was just another FPS game, it even had annoying insects like all the others... hmph.

I love the save system they developed for I-War: Defiance... You could get to certain "save points" in the mission and You could start from there instead of replaying from the start... Imagine replaying Save The Ralari with only one Gratha left... :)

But generally, I think the use of Save SHOULD be restricted in FPS games, I remember Halflife and Unreal were cakewalks (Unreal was one big sweep for me.. Marathon run again, I think this was eight hours, then break then six hours)... Because You could save save save save every time You rounded a corner and nothing happened...

I'll agree with that it's why I never patched alien vs predator, but I still don't think save gems is the answer! So long as freelancer doesn't end up as multiplayer only I'll try it, but it sure isn't going to be impulse buy like the wing commanders were.

I impulse bought WCIV, WC3, P2... just walked in saw them and paid... I recently ordered Privateer the same way. I know I'll never play it, the setup is going to kill me but I just did...

Save gems are a way of cutting down save opportunities. I think it's cool to treat saves as commodities. You can still save wherever You like but You have to earn the right to save a certain number of times... Save GEMS though, only detract from the realism...

But if you have girlfriend, work, university, life or others things to do maybe you can´t spend lot of hours staright gaming, and you need to save when you like, not when the programmer wants :)

Strange... I've heard these words before... What do they mean?

Well save wherever You like, but I like the idea of a limited number of saves, like the bunks in WC, You know, except that You can't save in the same bunk twice, so for the whole game You have like 10 or 20 saves and then it's over... You can still save wherever You like, but only a certain number of times. I think that's the best mix.

Bob... Get this... Last night I dreamt I played WC6, and Blair wasn't dead... He wasn't even missing... it turned out that the Bugs were the good guys, fleeing from the Mantu because the Mantu were eating them up back in their space, so we joined up with them and the Kats to kick the Mantu out of the galaxy, and Blair brokered the deal when his tower jumped to Bug space... crazy... But not as crazy as Privateer in Win 95. Get it? :)

You can save more than twice in the same bunk

I meant that :)

I meant that my ideal savegame philosophy would be to use bunks/slots and such, but to CHANGE it and make only one save per bunk/slot possible...

Autosave is a good ides, althought a bit annoying when You can't go BACK and replay a mission... Which is not the case in WCP but this FPS/RPG I once tried autosaved after the end of each "chapter" and there was no way to go back to the previous one. So if You had missed something, too bad. Start from Chapter 1, room 1. Major suction factor.

I play using keyboards. ;) And I wish I could have played X-Wing using the keyboard.
