Freelancer- No joystick support.

I was just reading Gamespot's E3 2001 preview of Freelacner. It states that it's not going to have support for a JOYSTICK. It's going to be mouse driving. If this is the case this will be one game I wont purchase. After the let down of Starlancer, which I pre-order and receive the first day. Chris Roberts and Microsoft are truely destorying the joy of Space sims. You have to wonder if Chris Roberts remembers the joy and excitement of WC.

Starlancer was a letdown?! WHat is WRONG with You?!

Well I can tell You one thing for certain. IMO, Starlancer beats most things I've seen as a game. I played it recently, and in my opinion it sported the best flight engine I've ever tried for that kind of sim, great graphics, excellent chatter and mission design. If only the plot were better I'd get it myself today...

The graphics of Freelancer look so great I'd get the game just to look at it... and nothing wrong with mouse driven games if You have the MS Strategic Controller mouse :)

what, that freaky new Sidewinder Strategy Command thing? I just bought a Sidewinder Precision Pro 2 and an advertisement was in it for the strategy thing...

I find it a great aid in playing games, I am so spoiled I can't do without it! I use it together with a Saitek Cyborg and between them I never have to touch a key on the keyboard... I usually move that away whan I play... Except WC1/2 in KS, which do not feature support for this. hence my utter failure at the Ralari mission throttle thing, I'm inept at keyboard control... I have to look down and find the key.

Mav... Typing speed?! You have an instinct for KV-offpissing posts, don't You? *lol*

About 70 words per minute. Get my ICQ... then we can chat freely and away from prying eyes :)

I believe he consider a Techincal Advisor. Most of the game development should have been done while he was still the owner.

Ticking off anyone is not fun. Ever. At least not when they can wipe out every trace of Your existence...

I love it when he said "If You are caught posting for the purpose of rising in rank, You will be dealt with"... Man, I felt like I was on the Mob's hit list or something...

And try ICQ.com...

I don't know... Sometimes I think that when admins are concerned, the use of smilies hardly ameliorates the harsh deathstrokes they are capable of disseminating :)

It makes sense for Freelancer to lack joystick support, because it's not a space sim like Wing Commander or Starlancer. I believe the purpose of the game is acquiring a better setup for your ship, most importantly, the auto-pilot. The ship flies itself, and you man the turrets.

I never saw joystick compatibility as a Godgiven right in games, I know lots of gamers still prefer to play WC with keyboards (I played through WC2 and TIE fighter with keyboards), and also, I think there's at least one "major" SciFi universe in which the control of a spacecraft is handled through a trackball :)

oh, and I liked when in Space A&B they had to stick their hands into the slimy holes in the wall to control the captured Chig bomber... Talk about HOTAS :)

Leave Kris alone you sick freaks. He bites back, hard.

The alien-holes in SAAB remind me of how the Nephilim supposedly control their ships from the ICIS manual.

Chris Roberts was supposed to stay with DA to finish Freelancer... but he didn't. And now Freelancer is aiming for a mid-2002 launch -- and I don't think we can be certain what kind of game it will be anymore.

Oh, God, how embarrasing *lol*

A few days ago I was on a ship conversion site and saw a "SAAB Bomber"... I thought they meant Svenska Aeroplan och AutomobilBolaget... Saab, as in the Swedes who make cars ;)

SAAB = Space Above And Beyond... *lol*
