Freddie Prinze Jr. Joins Wrestling Creative Team (August 7, 2008)

World Wrestling Entertainment, whose offering includes Friday Night SmackDown! and WWE RAW, has recruited Freddie Prinze Jr. into their creative team. The 32-year-old former teen heartthrob starred in Hollywood blockbusters like Scooby-Doo and I Know What You Did Last Summer, but is perhaps best known for his portrayal of a young Christopher Blair in the 1999 feature film Wing Commander. While it doesn't sound like Prinze will be doing any (simulated) fighting, his experience wrestling giant cats probably looked good on his resume in this particular case.

Freddie Prinze, Jr., a long-time fan of World Wrestling Entertainment(R), has joined WWE(R)'s creative team. Prinze, Jr. will now have a behind-the-scenes role contributing to USA Network's ratings powerhouse, WWE Monday Night RAW, as well as WWE's weekly television and pay-per-view programs.

Well, when I first saw the headline elsewhere, It read something like "Freddie Prinze Jr. joins WWe" and you have to admit the idea of FPJ fighting in the WWE is pretty darned hilarious, besides which... come on! How much writing could he possibly be doing for a wrestling match? And who's going to notice?

Yeah, this news story is hilarious. Movie Blair is writing for professional wrestling? The concept can't even be expressed properly in my brain.

Actually, it was pretty interesting to me to see his name flash under the CNBC news ticker because at first I thought he had some movie deal going down.

I just wonder how one fills out an application for a job like that?

I also wonder if that means that Hacksaw Jim Duggan will get a long awaited push to the world championship like he deserves.
