Favorite WC1/2 missions?

So, what's everyone's favorite missions from WC1/SM1/SM2/WC2/SO1/SO2? :D

Personally, I loved the Gwenhyvar(sp?) misson... from SM1, was it? And that SO1 mission where Blair and Hobbes defended Olympus station using the only two Sabres that were ready for combat there...that was great too, IMO.

Oh, and the reason I didn't put one of those nifty polls on this thread is because there would be too many options, and also because you don't need to choose just one mission... Just list the ones that you remember being the most kick-ass ones :)

Hmmm

In WC1 it was pretty much every mission in the rostov system.... I just loved the Raptor..

For WC2 I'd say when spirit gets killed, it was cool.

The mission, or the fact that Spirit dies? I hope you meant the former.

I imagine some would feel that the final Olympus station defence mission was a traumatising experience, not a great one. :)

I liked that first Rostov System mission where you get the Raptor for the first time in WC1; after what seemed like forever in the Scimitar, seeing those Salthi shatter after 2 Full Gun volleys felt *very* good...[better than sex...well, better than sex with myself...]

As for WC2, I liked about any mission in the Sabre, and I thought that the mission in the Broadsword (don't remember which system) where you have Angel on your wing and you have to follow the Ralatha through the jump-point was pretty cool, and the whole, "follow the ship, before it gets away!" feeling to that mission really built upon the cinematic base the second game was building.
I also really liked the second-to-last mission in the game, where you have to kill (well, defeat...) Jazz; then I like the mission in SO2 where you get to finally kill the bastard! :D

I know you didn't ask which missions we don't like, but I absolutely HATE the final SO1 mission where you're flying a Sabre, and you have to take out an ass of fighters (mostly Sartha, I think...), and then 2 Ralatha parked right beside each other!! I never did beat that mission...any tips?

Someone asked that very same question a while back, I think. Take out the fighters first, then use the Eclipse technique. maneuver so that positions are like this:
s:Sabre
R:Ralatha

s R R

That way

For wc1 i'd say the resuce exeter/captured ralghi (sp?) was/is pretty intense. While for WC2 I'd say the currier mission when you become the messager boy was fun just you and some fighters, even beter if you got no radar. :) Though an Epee mission almost rivals it in the can't survive unless good area.

Any SM2 mission flying the Dralthi with doomsday especially was hard, since doomsday never gets a single kill.

The last mission in S01 you can destroy both Fralthis by flying between them and (hopefully) having them antimatter gun each other. I actually managed to pull one off after MANY tries.

The ('loosing') alternate last mission to save Caernaveron Station with your 4 worthless wingmen was pretty fun too. It gave you a 'desperate attack' feeling, especially if you don't go to nav 1 and head straight for the strike force.

most Epee missions are fun too:D

For WC2 I'd say when spirit gets killed, it was cool.

I meant it was a cool development.... I didn't particularily enjoy having spirit die.... she was the first wingman I ever had in WC, that merits as much affection as I can have for a computer game character... lol

I thought it was truly a shame that Spirit died. She was one of my favourite wingmen (wingwomen?). Being a kindof afficionado of Japanese culture it pleased me to no end how much time was devoted to make Spirit seem truly Japanese. The developers payed so much attention to detail, right down to Japanese name order (family name before given name) in Claw Marks.
The developers (or at least scriptwriters) of SM1 were a little inconsistent in their Romaji spelling though. They used Konichi'wa while in WC1 itself they used Konnichi'wa. Both are right as there is no 'correct' spelling for any Japanese word in the Roman alphabet, but I think you should at least be consistent in the ones you pick. I use the latter myself.

I started WC with WC2 and didn't particularly like Shadow's death either. I must've played that mission a dozen times until I finally decided that it must be impossible to save her.

I did start with WC2. But i misunderstood. I thought he was talking about WC2. My bad. Sorry. Damn, I really am losing it
:(

I just loved the WC1 mission where you do a strike against Dorkirs and you get a shot at Baktosh Redclaw. Actually, I liked every strike mission...

My favorite mission was the one where you fight the two Snakiers and their Hriss escorts while in the asteroids. I think that was in SM2.

Most probably that was in SM2, since it's the only game that features Hriss and Snakeir. ;)

I can't think of a specific mission at the moment, though I like the missions in SM2 where you fly a Dralthi.

I took a quick glance through the Game Guides and this is most likely the mission you were referring to (since it's the only mission I saw with two Snakeirs and some Hhriss).

There's also a two-Snakeir mission in SM1.5... which also has a nav point with something like 4 Ralari. Infiltrating a furball shipyard, I think...

I'm not sure which one I like, but I know for a fact that I totally hate the first one. I remember playing it on the amiga, spent hours trying to get through it (it's those asteroids :)
